Thanks Brad for helping me adjust the toe last weekend at Willow Springs. I hope your car feels better.

Toe was in 1" on passenger side (strange) and steering wheel was coocked right after the warm up lap on Sunday. I ran into CMC-er Brad in the pits who found a set of toe plates and helped me get the bird flying straight and narrow again. The car ran very well afterwards, and I found the 3 seconds that have eluded me for the last year at Willow. My time in the last session on Sunday moved me from 6th (last) place to 2nd in TTB.
The 4 f-bodies that run in SoCal TT competition finished as follows:
Dolan grabbed 1st on Sat. and 1st on Sun in TTD;
Weber won 1st on Sat. 2nd on Sun in TTC;
I got a miserable 6th on Sat. 2nd on Sun in TTB;
and Wheeler is still Missing-in-Action (still in Blain's shop).

Blain! Finish Wheeler's car Already! We need him to win in TTA or TTS to prove that F-bodies rule no matter what class they run in.

LOL! Alan's got a few other cars in the shop.......(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I was there videotaping the Saturday CMC race since my car is down with fuel delivery issues. I'll post the tape later, very entertaining with James Griffith Jr. putting on a drifting show!

That's encouraging to see that F-bods can compete in time trials. I think that will be my goal to start competing in TT. With the mods I have now I'll be in TTS (i think, it's the low power unlimited class) but I am very, very underpowered. I'm planning on fixing that.

I've never been to a NASA event. Assuming I get close to the HP/wt limit, am I crazy to think that I can be competitive in TTS?

Work on the driver before you put more money into the car. Don't get me wrong, car prep can't hurt, but a good driver can polish a turd.

Why would you assume that I suck at driving? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I like to making the car fast as much as I like driving it fast. Actually, I probably enjoy that part of the hobby even more. But I agree with what you are saying. I need to get the car out of the garage and on the road to become a better driver (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)

Lots of turd polishing down here in SoCal.
We are all overweight pigs with inferior suspensions compared to the competition.

I ran my CMC car the past NASA event in TTC and was able to eek out a 1st place, 2 seconds ahead of the next guy.

What are you other CMC guys seeing as comparative laptimes in TTx?

On Sunday CMC qualifying 1st was 1.38
2nd in CMC 1.40

1st in TTE 1.39
2nd in TTE 1.40
1st in TTD 1.37
2nd in TTD 1.39
1st in TTC 1.38
2nd in TTC 1.38
1st in TTB 1.35
2nd in TTB 1.37
1st in TTA 1.32
2nd in TTA 1.37

1st in AI 1.31
2nd in AI 1.31

1st in AIX 1.26
2nd in AIX 1.27

Most CMC f-bodies will end up in TTC or TTB. In TT horse power is not restricted (to a point) so everyone can run wide open. Weight reduction moves you up classes quickly as well as wide sticky tires.
The rules will let you do just about anything to your car (tubos, tube frame, nitrous, full slicks, flame throwers, turret guns) just be prepared to pay for them in points, they add up quickly. Doing a lots of small changes from stock (for example to "optimize" the suspension by bolting on everything UMI sells) add up points quickly too, moving you up a lots of classes. Look for the most bang for the buck (points) what will make you faster and is it worth the poins that it costs. <--This is the part I like.

Sweet - you found some seconds with a better alignment, huh? Heehee, I knew it would help.

Hope your overheating issues got fixed (or at least are a little better). My car ended up having a bad opti. Well, as bad as having the rotor no longer screwed down can be. It's up and running again.

FWIW, as a data point, I ran Nationals in PTC (comp. to TTC). No way I had anything for Greg's SRT4 Neon. I could fight like hell just to keep up with Ryan's CRX, but these are heavy pigs of cars at the CMC power levels.

MyLaps has Greg at 1:33.7. That's basically 2 seconds faster than the CMC record. It's tough to get a CMC car competitive in PT/TT "C". Out here anyway - we all know a real Texan wouldn't be caught dead in a 4 cyl/front driver (hi Mitch!).

Since it was Greg that got first place in TTB that is why I am so happy with my 2nd place in TTB.
I was really looking forward to this season, not having to chase Greg around in TTC, than he moves up to TTB.
