Hi, new to the handling scene and am pretty happy that I found you guys!!!
I'm been with the Drag racing crowd for the past couple years and finally realized that I actually need a car that I can drive everyday if I wanted and take highways exit ramps without slowing down to a snails pace since I'm scared to bend the 3.5" skinnies up front (no sway bar, so same case with street setup). My power-band is probably not the best for road racing/autocross, but I hope to fix that in the near future with a cam swap but I just installed my suspension setup yesterday and am damn happy with the results! I can actually take turns fast!!! As for my setup, it's a '94 Camaro Z28 with a LS1 (6.0ltr iron block) and T56 conversion. Here's the suspension setup: - Koni adjustables front and back (4/4 kit from Strano) - Strano front and rear sway bars - Ground Control Coil over kit (550 in front, 175 in back) This thing handles like it's on rails!!!! Feels a bit shaky going over bad surfaces, so subframe connectors are next! (I seriously can't belive I still don't have subframe connectors after all I've done!) Sorry no pics of before after right now but I'll post some later when I get the car cleaned up and the ride height adjusted after the springs settle, but here's pics from the install  (IMG:http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/11/31422145358.jpg) (IMG:http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/11/31422145479.jpg) (IMG:http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/11/31422145534.jpg) (IMG:http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/11/31422145550.jpg) (IMG:http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/11/31422145566.jpg) This post has been edited by Mean Green Z28: Nov 13 2007, 02:14 AM |

Welcome.
Sounds like you're on your way to being a converted drag racer (though you can still make passes on that suspension setup). What alignment specs did you use? |

I'd probably make changing out the rear LCA's a priority (the extra spring rate of 175's, plus the 22mm hollow bar is going to make the car a touch loose, adding poly bushings will make it worse). I'd shoot for something along the lines of: 0 toe 4.5 castor -1 camber That will make the car responsive and tire wear will be decent (actually quite good). That's a great street/mild autocross alignment. You can go beyond that if you'd like. It depends on your intended use for the car. And, can I ask you to do me one more favor? That's a very nicely done sig pic, but we don't do them here. It's just to avoid clutter (and some have been less than "family friendly", or work friendly for that matter, so we just banned them all together). Sorry for the inconvience. |

WELCOME! I have the same shock/spring/conversion setup, save for double adjustable front Konis, and 600# front ERSes.
A suggestion; IF you care about this sort of stuff at all, paint the rear Suspension Spring Specialty springs with POR 15, powdercoat them, or dip them in that rubberized electrical insulation coating stuff that they sell in home centers, as they WILL rust even worse than the rear axle. I have the exact alignment specs that Kevin (trackbird) suggested. They are the close to perfect compromise for street/track/autocross. Welcome! You'll find much more fun with doing the twisty thing. Lasts longer than 12 seconds too! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

welcome aboard...
you can always get rid of the 3.5" skinnies and use 11" skinnies instead. ;-) I use that on the street and they are great. |

but i'm feeling the need to put skinnys on the front, DR's on the rear (315's) and swap the 250 rears for some stock cut springs. even at 230 hp, it should scream at 3200lbs!
anyone seen my sponsor? |

Pls. let me know if there's anything local happening. The autocross season is pretty much done around here for the year. Our club, Autocrossers Inc., will probably be running at FedEx Field next year, as will the SCCA's Washington DC Region. Pat This post has been edited by patred: Nov 13 2007, 01:36 PM |

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/lmao.gif) ). |
