Guys
A few days ago I found a thread with pics of a lowered chin deflector that had bracing behind it so that it wouldn't bend back.
I cannot find it now, where is it?
I would like to do a similar setup.

Thanks
Tyler

Here's some of the splitter threads (I think you meant the first one, but I'll list a couple just in case).

I saw a picture of a chin deflector that was lowered down (not the splitter) a couple inches and then braced from behind.
That black piece that puts air up into the radiator.
I knew I should have printed it off when I saw it!
Thanks Kevin for putting those threads up, but I am almost sure none of those are it - would be a bottom breather thread.
Thanks
Tyler

I know what you are talking about. But like you, I remember seeing it, but I don't remember where I saw it.

Sorry

I extended the chin deflector on my '92 Z28. But it's not really braced so much as tied to the ends of the bodywork. Was it on a 3rd or 4th gen?

I think it was 4th, I could be wrong though.

I am pretty sure it was a 4th, it was a great pic. I searched over on LS1Tech, nothing there.
It was so easy finding it before!
I recall a conversation where Mitch was saying that they are a $30 part (black deflector) and maybe it had a link to the part#.
But at this point, I have searched and looked through so many, I am all mixed up.
*Edit - I found the $30 part thread that Mitch was talking about, that is not the thread, either! See above sentence.*

I looked through both, and maybe it's time for round 3. I know I was searching for
ways to cool my car (radiator ect) more and I just stumbled upon it. Thanks for helping, Kevin!

I used to be good at this. I've been here a long time and I generally read/see all the threads. I'm typically the one who finds them. Damn...

Blaine showed his air dam for his green 94. I was trying to find it, but couldn't. I have pics at home that I saved though.

Tyler, from what I remember of the picture, it looked to me like simple metal (maybe Al.) metal stock that was bolted to the attachment points of the deflector. Seems like it would be pretty easy to do.

I was thinking about doint it, but I scrape the crap out of it so much (especially when loading and unloading on the Uhaul trailer), that I need it to flex. Also, I saw some pretty good pictures of me at a fairly high speed (maybe 80), and it didn't look like it was flexing at all. I do have brake ducts taking air from two 3" holes on the outside of the deflector that might be preventing it from flexing very much.

Here's something i did way back in the day, it was the very first design. I still have the brackets and some of the plastic cardboard stuff(light strong self clearence's) today. It will go on my black car if it ever hits the track.

I say cut to the chase and just make it a front breather... works much better! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif)

Hey! That is what I have been talking about this whole time!!! Thanks firehawk clone, I wasn't dreaming after all.
Now I am going to go print that off so I don't lose THIS thread.
I would like to take that and add some brake ducts and I should be set.

BPWilliams I don't think I am to the point yet where I will switch to a front breather. I guess if nothing else will work, then I could but I still have a few things to try before I give up and switch to a front breather.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Tyler

I think that picture was in one of the links I posted (I think I remember seeing it buried in there as I scanned the threads for pics before posting links). I'd have to look to see which one it was though...(if any (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ).

My luck with that kind of bracing was less than successful. First time I went off course, I bent those braces backwards.

I wound up drilling a small hole in the plastic and running a 1/8" piece of braided cable from the bumper support to the air dam.
