Does anybody have measurements or a source for a Nascar Style Swaybar? Something like this one?
(IMG:http://photos.motoiq.com/MotoIQ/Project-Cars/Project-Spec-V-part-2/1-Speedway-Engineering-sway/741969875_JAytC-L.jpg) I have a 35MM stock front swaybar and I am tuning on my suspension with a suspension guru and he told me that i needed to find a nascar style swaybar that's adjustable so that we can use that will handle heavy loads (2000 lbs load) for example. I am running CP in Solo, so this would be legal. For you RoadRace guys, would a nascar bar be illegal? Please advise me if you know measurements and if I could use stock mounting brackets or need to fabricate new ones. let me know your collective knowledge, thanks guys. Brian |

I don't think finding the bar in the right size is the hard part I think getting arms to fit at full lock with a 17x11 or in my case 25x13 is going to be the hard part

Brian Here's one: http://schroedersteering.com/COT_BarsPg.html The trick will be mounting the bar and arms so they don't interfere with anything else. LG did a top mount bar, with pushrods to the LCA's, on his old 4th gen WC car. AN OEM style bar will flex all along its length, even the bent ends, where a 3pc bar rate will be mostly just the torsion bar portion. To get an accurate actual baseline rate on what you have now, it would need to be measured with a jack and scale. |

I know the Corvette guys run a similar bar in Super Stock, the splines on the arms are cut on an angle to make room for tires.

I can't believe there aren't angled arms out there somewhere. Or at least offset to give the tires the clearance they need at full lock. Though I can't go full lock anyway because of the brake cooling stuff.

Check out CV Products, they are a big supplier of parts for NASCAR teams. If I get a chance I'll dig up there catalog, I'm sure the last time I looked through it I saw a big selection of sways in there!

I smell a blain fab product in the future. adj nascar style swaybar kit. Something close to a 35 hollow. Speedway enginering has alist of swaybars and rates http://www.1speedway.com/sb_rates.htm

Now most of the off the shelf bars are straight... Think that's going to be a problem trying to use the stock sway bar mounting location?

I put a set of speedway's on the Cobra and these are great bars and really easy to change rates. When I built the Camaro I made the wonder bar with going to this se-up in mind, post pick when you get it figured out. I had to custom bend my arms to fit, broke my vise in the process...

I just finished a conversation with a company who will be building me a prototype -- it turns out that it won't be a NASCAR bar but will be huge and it will be bolt on. I don't want to talk too much about it, but I will say this.
I promise to take lots of pictures, measurements, and I promise to make this swaybar available to everybody here at no profit to myself. The company even requested that I might organize a group buy to drive the costs down and I said "YES I WILL DO THAT". so, this story is evolving, stay tuned. Brian |

If running a soft spring big bar set-up the speedway engineering bars can be changed quickly and with the arm link adjustments and the bar changes the combos are endless. Not to mention the price is not to bad just to buy a splined bar and not a whole new swaybar... Keep us informed very interested.... |
