For a driver, I'd take a coupe over a Z06. I put 103Kmi on my 99 hardtop and the limited storage in the rear would have been a drag had I not been tracking it heavily.

I think my dad will do one HPDE a year, is anything needed to put it on the track? Oil pan?

Fresh oil a quart high, fresh brake pads and a bleed, and a general check of fasteners and wear items.

I just got on him for not listing his Elise for sale yet. Once that goes, he'll be more serious about buying a C5.

If this is still for sale, I'll make sure to send him your way.

Car would need a set of tires to go on track, these tires have good tread but are kind of hard.....not much grip.

Has a fresh Mobil 1 oil change.

Really wouldn't need anything other than (for a trackday)

Brake fluid
Tires
Brake pads on front (DTC 30 or so)

Its a damn nice car.

I know....and it's perfect for him. He's not into track days like he used to be, but something like this to run around in on the weekends is right up his alley. A C6 would be even better, but they are double the price and probably not worth it.

And to be honest, I'm not sure hes going to do anymore track days. But if he does want to, I want to make sure he would enjoy it.

Know anyone in the market for an Elise that is in beautiful shape? I think it only has 10,000 miles.

I also have flushed the clutch fluid(Ranger method) 3 times so far.

Also sucked out as much brake fluid as I could and replaced it.

As I remember (from another thread) he did and then he realized he really is a V8/hp/torque/RWD guy. You just can't beat the cro-magnon out of some of us..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I keep eyeballing this car. I really think I want a Z06 (but I'm keeping the C4 for now as well) and Alan had a good point about interior/useful space. On the other hand, I HATE owning black cars (though I love black cars...when they are not mine). I have a severe allergy to washing cars. Hawkfanatic and his wife stopped by last week to pick up a water pump and I thought I was going to have two heart attacks on my hands when they saw how filthy the poor C4 is right now. It was tough, but they managed to fight off the urge to start washing and rubbing out the finish (and scrub off the wheels). So, I really want silver... On the other hand, that sure is pretty. I keep looking at it as well. What does it take to make a C5 comparable to the Z06? 50 more hp and better suspension? I will say, I've never liked the looks of the rear window on the Z06's.

I have a black Camaro, black F250, and my wifes Murano is black. My next car is going to be white with black rims.

To be honest, I don't see the need for the HP, but if you HAD to have it, buy a top end off a 04 or so Z06...243 heads and cam(already has the LS6 intake). With a set of headers, intake and a tune it would make 385-395 to the wheels.

I put my NT-05's on this car and scrubbed up some on ramps near my house and DAMN I see where you could be REALLY fast in this car with nothing but tires and pads.

BUT

You can buy C5 Z06 sway bars and shocks off Corvette Forum all the time.

You put those on this car, lower it on the bolts, good alignment and a set of NT 05's this thing could be a ROCKET. With all that stuff AND 385 to the wheels holy sh!t.

I have thought HARD about keeping it, as its a BALL to drive in its current form, also its funny as hell to watch people...they can't HELP themselves but look at it....its funny as hell really.

Here is a pic with my track tires on it.

A buddy called it "Darth Vetter" LOL.
