Howdy all!
The New York Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America is holding an autocross event at Nassau Coliseum on Sunday August 29, 2004. They charge $30.00 for BMWCCA members (member card required to get the discount) and $40.00 for non-members. Even though it's the "BMW Club", they are quite open to other makes participating in their events. As it is the BMW club, they would obviously gear their classing to BMW's, non-BMW drivers get put into two general classes depending on engine displacement. The break level is at the 2 or 2.5 litre level; I would have to double check where it is exactly since I'm usually on the "big" side and never really committed the break to memory. They tend to get a bit smaller turn out than the SCCA events. As such, everyone driving winds up having to work twice, but the worker chiefs tend to try to accomodate groups of friends at a workstation. Also, since there are a lower number of participants, there is the chance of getting more than the usual number of runs. A nice side benefit is that there is also the potential for more one-on-one instructor time. Courses tend to be on par with what you would find at an SCCA event. Operations and such are also on par. Come on out and improve your driving skills! Hope to see ya there! Regards, Mark |
