Looks like Top Gear is finally comming to American television! Agreed DiscoveryChannel is airing older episodes but if you have the means I highly recommend it.

Discovery Channel Top Gear Schedule in July.

For the uninitiated.... Top Gear on BBC2 is truly a car guy show with a brittish spin. Includes test drives, quirky and inventive reviews and comparisons and the always funny star in a reasonably priced car segment.

Tonight's episode includes a challenge to see if an Apache Helicopter can get missile lock on a Lotus Exige.

Downloaded episoded off the internet FinalGear.com are decent (thanks TB (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif) ) but TV DVD versions would be worth the effort.

I love you man!!!!!! :leaving:

I hadn't seen this (which is not unusual since I don't watch TV). I'll be watching it tonight. You can save them to the hard disk and send them to me (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) . Speaking of which, I need to build you a long in on the new and improved server and get it all working.

Finally. I love Fifth Gear, and can't wait for this one. Brit car shows are just so much more entertaining than US car shows. Besides which they get some really cool cars that aren't even sold here.

On a seperate not, I got to see a Lotus Elise up close the other day. Much better looking in person, and definitely a really cool car. I think we may go test drive one this weekend while we're down in Dallas.

Aren't these the guys who bashed the C6 for having leaf springs and compared it to cars costing 40,000 pounds more!?! I'll watch it, under protest, but only because South Park is a repeat.

I got to autocross one last weekend. Awesome little car. Very well balanced, easily rotates, and smooth power. But it's a bitch getting in and out of. Not a daily driver IMHO.

5th Gear was good tonight. It's some older episodes but it's always fun to watch.

...yup....they also pushed in the rear bumper and said...WTF???....

Every time I watch it I think they are all buffoons....with a particular European slant...since I don't share the common view that Euro cars rule...I have trouble with the show.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

They generally hate American cars with the exception of the Ford GT. Their complaints are usually the same stuff you hear about in our own car magazines though. Crappy interiors, cushy suspensions, etc.

That said I love the show and look foward to downloading the new episodes every week. Once you get used to watching it you realize just how bad American car shows are. Too bad the Discovery channel version is edited and chopped up.

Got to catch the show on Discovery last night and loved it...you won't get Lemmy and Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" played in the back ground of an American car show or Rob Zombie too during their segments (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Not really an American car, makes sense!

I did watch their show last night thanks to your heads-up here guys! That was fun! Would love to take that Lotus Elise for a spin! Loved their analysis of the Maaaa(like Baaa with sharp a)zuroti , Fiorio in the Italian Hills with the Villa! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) That car sure sounded nice!

Looks like FinalGear.com got a cease and desist order from the BBC and as such have removed all of the downloads from their site but..... it seems that the new ones from this season are available on Mininova search

Trackbird. You can count on a supply of DVDs as long as Discovery continues to air new episodes. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif) Yeah we do need to get me set back up on the server.

i've been watching topgear and fifthgear for a while now, and i love those shows, fift gear for thier factual reporting and top gear for the comedy, those guys stereotype everything, i love it, they hate the germans, the french, italians, its just damn funny to hear it from them.

now, who do you guys think the stig is? rumors are that the stig is really tiff from fifth gear.

someof their competitions are just plain hilarious, like when they tested "ride quality" by driving over cobblestone with a bucket of water on thier laps!

For some reason Jeremy Clarkson's humor really makes me laugh

I really doubt its Tiff considering he is a host on a rival show (5th Gear). I don't know about the new (white) Stig but the original (black) Stig was a guy named Perry McCarthy.
