Due to the untimely death of my 4L60E during a recent track day, I now have the perfect opportunity to do the T56 swap I've been wanting. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Unfortunately, I don't have quite all the parts I need.

My most urgent need is for the T56 bellhousing (LT1 type). Gotta find one of those, since I can't afford the Mcleod stuff.

I also need a flywheel and clutch/PP assembly, but I can go aftermarket if need be. OTOH, if you've got something you'd like to get rid of, this might be your chance.

Finally, a stock shifter might be helpful, just to get it up and moving.

If anyone can help out, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I've got a stock shifter that I might let go (it's almost worth more to me as a spare or to return my car to stock, than it's actually worth to sell, if that makes sense), and Pimpmaro has a "Pro 5.0" shifter that is about to go up for sale (Pimpmaro is his username here on the board). I think he was asking $100 for the Pro 5.0, but I'd have to verify that with him (or you can send him a PM, he's been working a ton so he might be slow getting back to you).

Actually, this might be a little easier than I thought.

I'm leaning towards buying a new M29 trans from GM, to avoid any "surprises." And if I'm reading the GM parts catalog correctly, it looks like the bellhousing and shifter is included.

Looks like the flywheel cover is discontinued though. Anyone have an extra?

Sure looks right to me. He'll need the spacer for the studs for the slave cylinder.

Actually, mine HAS the spacer for the slave :-)

If he does not want it I'll post it up in the classifieds (with some other stuff) and then eBay it if no one bites.

Still trying to confirm if the new GM trans includes the bellhousing or not.
F-body parts manual indicates that it does, but we'll see what Dal has to say tomorrow.
If it doesn't, I'll be more than happy to buy the one you have.

Cool, I didn't see it in the pic, and since you didn't seem sure if it was the right one, I wasn't sure if you knew it was missing (or not missing as the case may be (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) ).

Are you getting the 93 trans (diff ratios)? How much (if you don't mind) and what PN is it?

Just let me know when you find out, I've listed it in 'Classifieds' also, but you have first shot.

Good luck!!

I think I might have my original flywheel and pressure plate (95 Z28). I pulled them out when they wouldn't hold ET Street launches, but it wasn't slipping at all for normal driving/autocrossing, so I think they are both in good shape. About 40K miles on them. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know and I'll try to dig them out.

Well, I got a reply from Dal,

"Hi dave, the book is not clear, but I think it comes without the front bell housing,
Last time I saw one, it did not have the housing on it."

However, Big Enos just posted that his M29 came with the bellhousing, clutch fork, and shifter.
http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?sho...amp;#entry85053

Hopefully Dal was looking at some other form of T56.

BTW, the price is $1838 for the transmission. GM Parts Direct shows them for $1738, but they have a way of making up a little "extra" on the shipping.
