Wow I just got off the phone with the casting director from SPIKE TV. They are doing a reality TV show called Bull-run Road rally.

bull run .

To sum it up, it starts in Vancouver CAN and end's in Los Angeles CA. It is shot over a 2 wk period in OCT and the grand Prize of $250,000. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) That will air sometime in 07'. Basically you do road driving, racing and Challenges along the way. It sounds like anything goes!!!!! As long as as me and my teammate can do a killer taped interview this weekend. Were IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than That I don't know what else to say. I need more (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) right now.

Oh yeah all expenses will be paid

My car was forsale, Now it isnt pending the interview. Guys I can use all the MO-JO you can spare. I'll keep you posted.

This tour stopped by my old job at the hotel (Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans) in 2004. Talk about NUTS! In our porte cahere at one time were all the exotics you could name, a European pursuit Mercedes, an Army Humvee, an Enzo, and a few classic muscle cars. They arrived around 10pm at night. The next morning, I watched them leave. The police blocked off Canal St. (the main road in downtown New Orleans). Then, they had a burnout contest where they saw who could leave the longest marks when leaving the hotel.

A friend who was co-driving one of the Ferraris said they were doing 160mph on the interstate through downtown.

But, they stay at all the nicest hotels. Eat at the best places. It's like Hedonism for a car driver!!

Define "all expenses", and does that include building that "special" engine you've always wanted?

I havent got that far into the conversation yet. But I know one of the things that is asked on tape is going to be what modifcations would you do to the car before you left. I just have to think What I can do to the car in a 4-5wk time frame. Which isnt much. Filming is set to air this OCT, it just doesn't give me alot of prep time.

Shipping the car to Washignton/British Columbia area is going to be another bump/delay in the road. I mapquested the route and its just over 3,000 miles there. Which would be 2 days of straight driving just to get there. I would rather not drive that before the event if it can be avoided.

I wasnt able to be told alot about the event, but think of it as Amazing race with cars, and challenges, speeding at all cost to win. Then parties each night. Its the Bullrun event with the entry fee and I get paid to do it. Cant ask much more than that. Being able to win $250,000 is just a little more incentive.

Well see how this weekend goes.

Thanks

John

I guess this would be fun, unless you get partnered with a gay man, in his late 40s that likes to walk naked on the beach.

Good Luck, John.

It's not so much a race on open interstates. Not sayig they don't fly (heard stories of 180 for hours through Texas), but it's not like a Cannonball Run. They go from city to city, stopping at tracks along the way.

I think the cost is somewhere near $10,000 to enter on your own. But, it takes care of hotel, food, and entry fees at tracks.

Sounds really sweet. I was just reading an article about something similar, called "Players Run". it runs from L.A to Colorado in a span of like, 5 days. If it's anything like it, man, I'm jealous!!

Have fun and be safe. I wish the program is done either by BBC, TLC, or Discovery, as I work on alot of reality shows on those channels . And they're all kinda boring (except for the Top Gear pilot that doesn't look promising).

Well found out some more info about the event.

It is going to be shot from OCT16-26. From talking today with the casting director my take on the true racing end of it, Closed course's is not going to happen. Its all street events. Overall mileage is considerabley less than I was expecting after doing the One Lap Events. I was kinda shocked by how low it is. But I have to remember play during the day. Party at Night. She reminded me that this show is geared for Young MALES 25 old. Bring on the chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess putting a complete motor together is what young males want to see. HINT HINT HINT. Seems boring to me right now.

I guess im having a hard time seeing which direction they are taking this event. But for $250k I will put all my dignity aside to have some fun, doing what I love.

All we need is a killer video interview and were in. If I learn anything else I will keep you posted.

John

Not to be the pessimist, but it doesn't sound legal. If it was me, and they're promoting street racing, I would get them all ready to start shooting and take as much money I could get my hands on.

Chris the problem right now is because this is a new tv series, I personally cant read the casting director very well. I cant go look up the show before. But I know what they do during the real bullrun and by no means are they slow pokes or Saints behind the wheels. Us One Lap of America Racers aren't saints either including myself. Its one of those things that is expected to be done. But not openly talked about. If I have to push the limit's during these events I will do so.

Eugenio not at this time. Im taking my Brother-in-law with me. They love that he is a Farmer and a good Old BOY!!! They want him to wear the sterio-typical plaid shirt and John deere tractor hat. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) There is no time for any other options on co-drivers.

I got back late last night after 2 days of shooting our interviews and car info. Had a bunch of candid stuff we did. Me fixing my firebird(because the Clutch switch took a crap). Brock playing on a skid-steer at the barn, Crossing a big stream in the truck at 2am shortcut!!! And I think the best us crossing a beaver dam that was a little deeper than we both thought. 4.5-5ft of water and a stock location air inlet don't mix. We had water up to the top of the wiper blades. I drained about 1 gal of water from the air intake alone. But after using a small screw driver to turn motor over truck started and we were on our way. Starting with a burnout and finishing with a KILLER BURNOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reviewed all the photage last night, And are very confident we did great. We were not rigid or blah during the taping and kept a very light side to us. One thing is they don't want to you to edit NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Well I shot vid when we got up 3hr later at 5am. I should of just turned the camera off it was boring...... If I had to take anything back it would be of that.. there just isnt anything there.

Once I know more info I will pass it along. The next call is going to be NO your done!!! or Yes your in move to the next level. We shall see!!!!!!
