Ok, many of you know that I've been looking for a 3rd gen to play with. I've come up with an idea and a potential car. The question is, how much of this stuff could I find homes for? It's all currently on my car, but I've finally started to work out a plan to buy a 3rd gen (which is why there is no rear suspension stuff listed (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ). If I can get enough of the stock stuff lined up (I think I've got most all of it already) and enough buyers for enough parts, I am getting interested in stripping the car and buying something with the money from the parts. My wife is much more happy when I do projects like this without using any "new money", so I'd be selling these parts to finance the new project. All prices are "rough" and I might be open to offers/combinations. So, the questions are:
1. Are my prices reasonable? (I've not checked prices on many of these items lately, I already own them so I wasn't concerned what they cost today, which is partially why I'm asking) 2. Will people actually part with cash for such items? 3. Can I move the bulk of this in a reasonable time period? If the answers to all of the above are "yes", I may procede with plans to get started. All parts are currently on my 2002 Z28 and will fit most 4th gen cars (all?). Shipping would be extra or you could pick stuff up in the Columbus, OH area. And again, if I can't move most of it, I'm not going to start pulling things off of the car. So, I guess that this is an "everything must go" sale, or I'll leave the car as it is. Here's the list: $575 front Koni DA's with H&R 600 in lb springs and perches/mounts (assembled, ready to drop in) Gone. $50 BMR STB (black finish) Gone. $700 6 piston wilwood kit (with "Thermolock" piston heat shelds) using C4HD rotors (Precision brakes kit) and Ferodo DS2500 pads (50% or so left, maybe more, possibly a good bit more). Kit requires LS1 spindles and fits 10 spoke wheels without spacers. No charge for the patina of brake dust. Sold. $50 spare Hawk HP+ pads (75% or more) for wilwoods and 4 extra backing plates for the 6 piston calipers (to have relined at Carbotech or similar) Sold. $30 SLP TCS module (disables TCS when you start the car) Sold $55 SLP "lid" (with hose and elbow for 2001-2002 vehicles) Sold. $20 K&N air filter (with partial recharger kit) Going with the car. $25 Amsoil filter (with can of oil) $70 U-haul hitch with "gooseneck" and ball (I might keep this for the next car, but not sure yet). going with car, too lazy to bother pulling it, it's been a long week $10 Trailer light converter (needed for cars with amber turn signals) staying with hitch on the car $85 ST 35mm front sway bar with poly bushings Pending. $450 10 spoke SS wheels (lots of brake dust but round and no curb rash) with Dunlop Graspic DS2 snow tires $275 global west front upper control arms (del-a-lum bushings) with Moog Problem Solver balljoints (Eugenio has first shot at these). I'd need stock arms to put on the car before I can pull these off. Sold. $85 ported/polished (and epoxied) throttle body (Shaner, Bauer, etc, not sure which), also externally polished with black powdercoated throttle arm (I'd need a stock one (core?) to put back on the car). $45 MSD LS1 wires (brand new in box) Sold. $50 Pair of used front hubs (studs have been removed), should be in good, servicable shape. Sold. $75 2001 Helm service manuals (if I sell the car, I'll sell the books) EDIT: Given my choice, I'd like to make as much of this local pick up as possible. Meaning, if someone can come get it, and someone else wants it shipped, the local pick up will probably "win". I don't have a ton of boxes and shipping some of this will be tricky (but I can get it done if needed), so that's my preference. I may also part with these items: $375 rear shortened DA's (Rebuilt in late 2004/early 2005 and shortened 1" on the body and 1" on the shaft, they are 2" shorter when fully extended and about 1" shorter when compressed) |

Whoever buys the brakes must make sure their eyeballs are securely attached to their eyesockets!

Prices look decent to me.
Foe example I am paying poSSum $100 for the same front sway bar so you have some good deals listed imo! I am just surprised you did not have the C5 front brake set-up as you sell the trackbrackets ffs! |

I wound up with the 6 piston kit before (or during) the time I bought the trackbrackets kit designs. It just worked out that way. I've threatened to swap the car over, but everyone keeps buying up my spare set of brackets.

$350 7.5" Blaine Fab spoiler (I don't even have this yet). Fits 4th gen Camaro bodies. I think Alan is still in the process on the spoilers, so you could probably switch yours to a 3rd gen ... or tell him to hold your hunk of lexan until you know for sure if you're keeping the '02 or not. Just a thought. |

I thought of that, but I'm looking at a Formula, so I'd probably not use it (the wrap around wing works decent, though it's heavy).

That wrap around spoiler could be heavier than you think and they're usually not in great shaape either. When I parted mine the hatch with the spoiler was so heavy I couldn't support it without the struts for very long. Once I pulled it off I could open the hatch VERY eaasily.
I'm thinking of ditching mine for either a fiberglass replica or the 2 pedistal style. |

I had a formula and someone smashed the back window at one point. I removed the hatch and then the wing. I know it weighs a ton, but it is also functional (I'd have bigger fish to fry before dealing with a spoiler).

I know it weighs a ton, but it is also functional (I'd have bigger fish to fry before dealing with a spoiler). Kevin, I wish I coulda told you my story when we met at MidOhio. OMG. I was tracking a C5 with every track goodie imaginable. I drove it to Dallas on Fridays. Played around on weekend and did the DE stuff all over. I had progressed to boiling out diff/tranny fluids. It had coolers in the rear brake ducting. One on each side. My work truck was a 98 Nissan Frontier. Sold it. Bought a '03 Silverado 4.8L S/W as my everyday/tow. I had to move 2 trees and a flower bed to make room for a place to park a trailer in a side yard. I had to rebuild the fence there with 2 swinging gates to get the trailer in there. I had to buy a trailer. Oh, also there was a small garden where the trailer is so I had to move it also. I had to remove all the goodies from the Y body and sell them, plus sell the car. Most of the stock parts I had but had to scrounge for many. This was a BIG undertaking. To completely change from the hpde mentality to go wheel to wheel racing. Did this all in 4 months. I set goals and had just made up my mind on what I wanted to do. I have no regrets. It was a life changing experience. It's been one of those "times of my life". I hope you have as much fun as I am. Happy Holidays, jb |

Well, he might have some problems parking the trailer! Um, yea. Just a few problems there. Actually, there's plenty of room at your place..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) |

Hey Trackbird, I'm interested in some info on the hitch.
Additionally, I'll take the TCS module and Trailer Light Converter off your hands...and the Ported Throttle Body. .. God I love Christmas... and I don't even have to wrap these (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Shoot me an email, plz, so we can work out the particulars. Thanks for the great pricing. John. This post has been edited by The Nexis One: Dec 17 2006, 07:29 AM |

Ok John. Let me see if I can get enough people interested in the rest of this to make it all happen (and I'd need a stock throttle body to use when I pull this one off, the car is a daily driver for now).

I do have uncommitted Lexan left, tho, so Kevin if you wanted to change to 3rd gen I could do that, and keep the 4th gen for stock. |
