Well, I've gotten to that point where I'm not sure where to go with my car. Here's where I am: 2000 T/A, stripped interior w/ cage, full suspension,T2R, 17x11's w/ DOT rubber, intake, exhaust, bolt-ons, lightened somewhat. I don't know if I should go for a cam package (more power), move to 18" wheels so I can get full slicks as takeoffs, get an aluminum flywheel and clutch upgrade, or what. I never really gave too much thought to where I wanted to go once I got here. I'm moving to road race, so that's what I want the car to excel at.
For now, let's assume a budget of $1000 for parts. I'll probably do the work myself. |

All that power from the cam swap won't do you any good if you can't stop. I'm trying to decide how to upgrade my brakes, even though I'd rather have more power as well. My theory is if I can carry what power I have longer, and brake better and in a shorter distance, that's cutting lap time. Not all courses will let you get the most benefit from the HP upgrade, but all courses require brakes. (at least that's my theory)
Would your possible upgrades impact your classification? |

Might be a good time to put an LS1 in your race car Glenn (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

A grand won't last long spent toward safety stuff.
Seat, harnesses, suit, gloves, helmet, socks, shoes, etc. FYI, living in the south you are gonna want a thin /5 suit. That's your budget of 1k, and then some. Good luck, jb |

Crap - sorry guys. Forgot to mention that I upgraded my brakes recently. And, just got a new helmet and suit. I would like a new seat, though. That may be an option. I still have shoes and gloves to buy, but those won't break the bank.
Now, I don't have ducts. But, I think I'm going to fabricate some when I do my front splitter. That'll all be homegrown stuff, so it'll come from the "slush fund". For tuning the cam, I can get a cam package and tune here at Thunder Racing for just above $1000 (cam package=$799, dyno tuning=$450-$180 that I already spent on the regular tune). Oh, and I have no worries about classifications. At No Problem Raceway (the home track), our Grand Bayou series classes cars by qualifying times. If you run a 1:23, it doesn't matter if you're in a Ferrari or a Pinto - you're running side by side. I don't fit into any NASA or SCCA classes as it is, so I'm not too worried with it. |
