How many of you race together? I see a lot of posts that lead me to believe that many of you guys see each other at tracks somewhere.

I'd kind of like to get an idea of who the "cliques" are comprised of.

I'll start ...

I do Open Track events in and around the DFW, Texas area and run with several members here.

After three events I have yet to see another single F-Body at the track this year. Or Mustang, for that matter. Sucks.

I run mainly with NASA-VA so I'm mostly in the Mid-Atlantic area, with trips to Lime Rock, Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio for other groups.
Occassionally I'll see Keith, but as an instructor, I get fairly busy with (usually) two students, ride-a-longs, evaluations and my own track time.

Well, lemme see. I race in NorCal CMC with Al Fernandez (CMC #5), and Brad Simpson who also hangs out on this board. We race at California Speedway, Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, Sears Point (Infina-what?) and Thunderhill (my personal favorite!). I am 83 miles from Thunderhill, about 47 miles to Sears, about 280 miles to Buttonwillow. There are several of us from the NorCal area on here including Tony from Redding(did I get that right?) that goes to Thunderhill. I have known Nick Steel, last year's CMC champ, and Jason Swindle of Unbalanced Engineering from F-body lists and have raced and done an autox school with them both. I owe Nick about a million favors for helping me out with the CMC car and transporting f-body stuff up here I have bought from SoCal. When I can I do the same for him. We have a network of F-buds based in both parts of the state and usually can get things back and forth for each other.

I have talked Al Fernandez in to teaching the SCCA High Performance Street School with me at Thunderhill. We have some fun! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I haven't seen anyone at an autocross (haven't been to a HPDE yet), but I've seen pics of 2muchpower at Giant's stadium. I think he runs with the M-club and I run there with NASA... I'll get to one of those events eventually.

I think I've also seen pics of PF Flyer when NASA northeast heads down to VIR.

I've met KeithO twice at AutoX's in Pittsburgh, Sammy a few times, Karen once, Pat once, Dan Keen alot as he used to be here in the Glen region. I saw Rich's car once, and met Mark (conemark) once. So for the most part I only really know Dan Keen, but I've met quite a few people.

The f-body guys at our local autocross club have become friends and I think we are all here. There is myself of course, Jim Mueller, Soma07 and 2002ssconv. I met TimZ06 at one open track event before this board even existed.

I never see other f-bodies at the track. I go with the NJ or Delval BMW clubs to Watkins Glen, Limerock, Pocono, and Summit Point. Once in a while there will be an instructor or too with an f-bod but usually I just see M3's, M5's, C5's, 911's, NSX's, etc.

I autocross in KY, CKR, and Cincy SCCA autocross regions. I regularly see sgarnett at the KY and CKR events.

I'm up in the great white north...well not really but I am in southern Ontario Canada. Lots of fbody guys to race around with here but havn't noticed any on the board(even tho I've mentioned it many times). Guess they're just not as addicted as me, YET! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I know there is someone here who lives about an hour north of me racing in a GT series at Mosport among other places I believe.

Also another friend who lurks here with a 97SS(white w/ orange stripes) that will be atteneding superfest(next weekend?) for the autox. ANyone else going?

In due time, in due time.....

All we need are a "whole bunch" more members and sponsor money and that could happen.

Yup, you are starting to get way too d*mn much seat time this year, just as I've had to scale back some (hopefully temporary). I've GOT to start using more wax on your tires (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

First reply, but since it is about knowing people... I do know trackbird and axoid. Started to run auto-x this year in the OVR region. Sharing a f-body with the owner. My current daily driver is a 92 RS.

I know Sam, Pat (Patred), Karen (FSCamaro34), Mike (94bird), and really that's about it, that post on here alot. Also Dale Klein (DaKlein I think, and my FS hook up most likely), I know that there are a few others who lurk around that I have met, or race with.

It's funny because I have met some really cool people this year, and even a couple I wanted to punch in the mouth. As much as it may sound like I'm just searching for a reason to like autocrossing, I really am starting to like the social aspect. I guess you have to, If not, then autoxing would be alot of boredom and misery for just a few minutes of seat time.

Me too. But in the local AX club (Equippe Rapid) I never found that. And it was work, not fun.

A lot of it is attributed to where I live ... while not on the edge of the earth, I can see it from my back porch.

So, I started OTing with 98_1LE and then several others joined in.

I feel like I know a lot of you, but when I sat down and thought about it I think the only people I've met are Lonnie (ESPCamaro) and KeithO.

This year I probably won't meet many people as my car will likely be in the garage for most of our 5 month season, but maybe next year?

I met Wanyo (the Black Trans Am pics from another thread) SCCAing this year.

It was the first event for both of us. But that is about all I know in the local races.

Trackbird helped me with my front LS1 brake swap. I need to do more SCCA's but I need suspension and tires to make it worth while.

I don't see any members here routinely. Though I have met Mike (94bird), Mike (PFlyer), Aaron (35th_Anniversary_AS_Camaro_SS) and Sam Strano a few times each. There are a few local f-body autox'ers that I see alot, but they aren't the "Internet user" type of personality.

Nah, driving any event will teach you things. Suspension may make you more competitive, but the driver plays a larger role than you think.

I was looking to do OT when Mitch and Chuck(98_1Le) sort of found me over at CamaroZ28.com a few years back.....and the next thing you know I had several new friends from the DFW area. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I haven't done as much OT this year as I would like, but I started the whole dirt track racing thing this year and there just isn't the funds or time to do both.

But I think most of us are scheduled to do a November event together.

Anyone from Chicago area? There's like a million f-bodies around here, but they all drag, so to get someone to go a HPDE event is a major hustle. There's a Gingerman event on June 9th and I am going, but it's more fun with few other people that you can learn from.
SVT cobra club seems to have great turnouts for their HPDE, but that's the only club I've seen that can consistently pack the track. I went with them once in my Supra. Someone asked me if it's rear engine (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

c'mon Chicago people, let's go to Gingerman, don't tell me I'm on the only one in here!

Folks, please post your GTGs, GTG ideas and events in that forum so folks will have an easy time seeing what is coming up in their area. Thanks!

Randy, I will have to run up to Thunderhill or Sears to catch you at an SCCA event sometime! You are certainly welcome to attend a CMC event and hang with us! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Marcin do you know Bob Anderson or Brian Regganie?

They are both fast F-body autoxers in your area. There are usually a few good/nice guys in ESP in F-bodies at chicago region events.

No I don't, I've been to a SCCA's autocross event only once as a spectator, and there were 2 esp camaros IIRC. Do you know if they're on this board, or if they're interested in opentracking at all?
Either way, if anyone wants to track or just hang out, 'bushmannt' is the AIM screenname, I'm on pretty much all the time.

I've been accused of "knowing everybody," but this thread shows that's not true! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Obviously, I autocross regularly, but probably the one guy I see all the time would be Pat Griffith (patred), for obvious reasons. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

I've also autocrossed many times with Strano, and in the past year have met up with Steve, Lonnie, Morgan, and Aaron. I'm sure there are probably some lurkers here that I know, but they'll need to speak up first. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

The AI West folk have been talking recently about going to the August 21-22 Mid-Ohio event, but so far I think I'm the only one seriously considering it. I was going to go with my car, #29, and share it with Nick Steel, (whoa, scary man) but he's busy that weekend with work.

How many of you dudes and ladies will be there?

Marcin, or you could go to Gingerman the following weekend with NASA's HPDE group and meet KeithO. I'll be there for one day, but without my car. I believe Eric Vickerman will also be there with his Dad and their AIX Z28. I believe the weekend would be about the same price as the track day you're advertising also.

I know a couple poeple from the board. I think the first person I met was Glenn at a Hooter GTG right after I bought the '98. He was in the process of installing a nitrous kit. Next would have been Mitch at an autox. He later invited me to MSR for a happy hour he was organizing. Later that year he and I attended a BMW club DE. I met Mike Patterson that weekend. Later I met James (AllZWay), those Gigliotti boys, Andrew (bowtieboy), Nick, Josh (prockbp), and probably a few I am forgetting that post here.

hmm...I could do it that weekend. Any spots open? Who do I talk to get in? Never done anything with NASA people so I'm clueless, sorry.
Do they take newbs?

The AI West folk have been talking recently about going to the August 21-22 Mid-Ohio event, but so far I think I'm the only one seriously considering it. I was going to go with my car, #29, and share it with Nick Steel, (whoa, scary man) but he's busy that weekend with work.

How many of you dudes and ladies will be there?

Christine

Christine,

I may be able to crew, or even scare up a couple person crew for you if you make the event. I crew chief for an AIX car when I have time (www.darkhorseracing.com) and a friend crews with me for that team. If we are both free (he is moving to new york) and he is still in town, I may be able to come help you prep.

If you are going, let me know when we get closer and I'll check my schedule.

Kevin

hmm...I could do it that weekend.  Any spots open?  Who do I talk to get in?  Never done anything with NASA people so I'm clueless, sorry.
Do they take newbs?

Yep, there are 4 classes of HPDE for various driver experience levels. Check out http://www.racenasa.com for details. I would bet there are spots open for the HPDEs.

BTW, for other events in this area, try http://planet-torque.com/sche.php?tracktype=track . The guy maintains lists of a large number of clubs that hold track days and races.

I haven't met anybody from this board. I mainly OT and HPDE at Road Atlanta, Talladega GP, and Barber. I have given up on trying to get the other local fbody owners to go to a road course, they only seem to like drag racing and cruise ins.

I'm not in town July 11th, but will be at Barber July 24 and 25 with BMWCCA and at TGPR August 8th with Robbie Padgett. There is still space at TGPR, if interested call Robbie 404-351-2002 or www.bavarianimports.net.

I mostly race in the American auto X series in n cali. I also did a lot of the NASA events when they ran at Marina ( awesome site). NASA did have an autocross event at Altamont speedway this year which was cool. Got the fastest time of the day in my SS. I havent run into anyone from this board yet. I guess I will have to start road racing soon.
