I am looking at replacing my Recaros with something lighter, and am mainly looking at the Kirkey Aluminum Road Race seats. Anybody use them? Opinions??

I use the Kirkey Intermediate Layback seat in my car.....bought it before they came out with the roadrace seat....
It is fine...for racing....plenty of support and "enough" comfort.....and it was $159 That said...if I had to buy now, I would get the one you are looking at....but.... I doubt it will be as comfortable as a Recaro, and would not suggest if you will be using on street....JMHO |

I cant help you on the comfort part. I think it looks real comfortable. I looked and inquired on that seat @I.O. Port racing supplies. He(NASA scrutineer) said I should not get the intermediate need more protection because of the fast heavy car.And to get the Kirkey deluxe Pro version to be real safe.
That seat you linked to at Kirkey does not come with a cover. Can you get a cover there for under $100. If not and you are set on getting the intermediate then I.O. Port sells that seat for $320+ with a cover. I am set on getting the Pro seat at Safecraft in a Package Deal #1 .Comes w/ Fire suppression system nozzles and lines 5lb. bottle, window net, seat mount brackets and Pro road race seat & cover. I think its a great price. Here http://www.safecraft.com/Mpackage.asp Tony |

I had the Kirkey intermediate layback and went to the Kirkey Road race seat last season. Big difference in comfort! The int. layback had these "chicken wings" that protect your ribcage. They hit me under the arms and I felt like I was driving like a chicken! The road race seat Kirkey has is extremely comfortable. I saw at http://www.speedwaymotors.com that Kirkey just came out with an even nicer seat!

Yeah, the Kirkey road race seat does look comfortable. I think I'll give it a try.

I just use the Corbeau Forza and am very happy with it. It's lighter than the Kirkeys by a few pounds also.
