First, here are some pics of the PowerTour Camaro's. 4th gen's with a standard small block chevy swapped in to reduce racing costs.

Yep, these were all passed around about day 2 of this site....we even contacted the makers of them in Europe....I just got an email update of his new shop/address....

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

They were willing to sell one to someone here and allow them to copy it for US. use, but that was about it....they were getting hard to get as I remember too.....maker was no longer doing them....

Sigh....a few of us got in touch with them back in the day. They were willing to send us a body kit to use and even copy and distribute around here if I remember.....but it was LARGE $$$$$ just to get one set of them here, and nobody wanted to step up......

....how do you send "specs" on a body kit???? Pics are as close to "specs" as you would get I would think....it is up to you to now go into the garage and copy them and then sell them here for profit..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

those are awesome looking cars!! (first two)

I am NOT PARTIAL to the high rise spoiler/supra style.... not one bit, ew, gross, and... VOMIT!

I've got a little creation of my own stirrin up in my basement as we speak, NOTHING near what these cars are, just a small customization I'm planning. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Specs on a body kit? Create a 3d grid of them. In other words, put the fender a certain distance from the wall. Then, measure things like, "6 inches from the front seam, 12 inches from the ground, the fender is 15.5 inches from the wall; move 6 inches to the rear (still 12 inches from ground), the fender is 14.75 inches from the wall."

I used this method back in college when I had a friend measure the chord of a Cessna wing for an aerodynamic engineering project. Of course, he was measuring relative to the ground, but the principle is the same. It's not the most accurate thing, but it gets you well into the ballpark. Or, I'd hope it would for someone who does this stuff - perhaps not . . . laying fiberglass and forming body panels is a black art to me.

I found the allowance for the plexiglas side curtains interesting. I can't imagine FIA or other body approving it, but who knows what goes on over there. Certainly, not something allowable here under full race conditions. The only thing close is NASCAR allowing such curtains for Qual.

Do you still have the contact info for them, I am stationed over here in Europe and I could take off and take my car there or something and have the panels put on, and Ill be back in the states end of this year and we can go from there.

Do a Google search.....they were not too hard to find. Communicating with them was not easy, but not hard. I emailed Joran Persaker several times.....he was willing, but we didn't get far. Someone here asked for a body kit, and they were willing to ship one over here for a price....wasn't too horrific, but not cheap either as I remember. They even said something to the effect of "Hey buy the kit and produce it and sell it over there if you like....."

...just never gained traction around here.....

Was that the "camaro cup" guys or the or the black and yellow one. I know the black and yellow cars are UK based and the Camaro cup are swedish, norwiegin or danish.

I searched AC Automotive on the side of the black car and it was an air conditioning place that did american cars but didnt see anything about a race team.

Joran Persaker was a Camaro Cup guy....that is the guy I talked to. I am pretty sure there was a guy who talked to the AC Automotive guy or someone similar on the other cars as well. I would persue the AC Automotive angle and also do a search on or about the very first month of this site about "european Camaros" and there should be some mention of who they got ahold of.....

Sounds like the car was competitive. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif)

Also, from what I'm reading I think the series it ran in was discontinued. It was called Formula Saloon and the guy who drives/owns the car is Andy Chester (no doubt the "AC" in AC Automotive). I think he has a shop in the UK. I wonder if he still has the car?

that third gen firebird is hot. 6L twin turbo, the stuff dreams are made of. Too bad about the tranny issues. Interesting it mentions 1000hp too much even for the track.

This quote says it's a V8, probably a carb version.....
Like a phoenix from the ashes, and in stark contrast arrives the bright yellow Camaro. A more reliable 6.0L, normally aspirated, 1998 Chevy 350 performance block.

The last mention there is in 2003. As boyce said, one of the links goes to nothing which suggests the series is dead, the other has a ton of info, but I'm not having an luck finding anything about the camaro.

Given the date of the pictures I would imagine we will have one hell of a time coming up with the parts. I would guess it becomes less likely every year.

Don't know why I keep looking at this since I have a pontiac... guess morbid curiosity.

hmmmm, lets see....still need to pay for the 14.0:1 solid roller motor, dry sump and hood. that kind of leaves me broke. Maybe I can talk them into a free bee on the body kit. I will try to amaze them with my whit and charm.

There was an email link on that site but the email page was down. I will try to find another way to contact the guy that wrote that article and see what I cant do.
