So... I just moved out to the SF Bay area from Ithaca, NY...

And I've been slacking on getting my car registered, because I'm a slacker. It's passed smog with flying colors every time I've owned it, but...

Now it's misfiring like crazy and a plug wire seems to be arcing. You can hear it zap and the car shudders immediately afterward, so I figure that's a rather clear explanation. Scan shows it's cylinder 7, and I tried yanking the plug boot off and reseating it, and it's no better (worse, if anything. yay me.).

So, unfortunately, I live in an apt complex now, and have no facilities to do a wire change, even if I did have the skills to pull that off. So I'm looking for either recommendations of shops to take it to, or, even better, some wonderful person who has nothing better to do than help me with my plug wires. Randy, I'm looking at you! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Unfortunately, I can't pay much, which is putting me in a whole other bind. The whole "I just moved out and furnished an apartment" is kind of killing me.

So please, help! Some suggestions would be wonderful. The car is getting worse by the day... but the good thing about this is it survived 94k very hard miles on the original wires and 87k on the original plugs (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks,
Dan

To get you over the hump (of emissions testing) you could probably do just #7 for now...

Then tackle the others when you have more time (and some help)...

you're priorities are way outta whack man, you could have found some milk crates to use as furniture. I woulda let you use the seats from my metro (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
(and I wonder why I am still single)

Good luck in fixing your car.

Yeah... I was mostly just kidding, Randy - but thanks (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

As Aron said I did the plugs in September (or thereabouts). A friend was working on them from underneath and I was above at 2AM - Raceflais™!

So I blame him, being that plug 7 is an underneath plug. So I need to change that wire, at the least. Luckily it's going to be a beautiful week - maybe I'll just do them all in my covered spot... heheh.

Dan

[EDIT] Furnishing apt includes the new computer rig... 4k down the hole, but damn is it impressive...[/EDIT]

I hated those stock wire holders, they allways cooked the wire's. I did start rapping them in the plastic tubing to slow down the cooking to a slow simmer (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Now with headers i use OVC wire's and holders, no problems now (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

Yah, but I can't pull off OVC's with stock manifolds, right? There definitely doesn't seem to be enough room.

Bah, this car is so much fun...
