Sounds like a stupid question I know. Has anyone sold one of their old bars and shipped it? What did you ship it in? I'd like to get rid of my old 1LE front here or on ebay but it's so large and oddly shaped I'm not sure how. I'd like to sell my solid 35 whenever I get a hollow 35.

You can just wrap cardboard around it and tape it up and call it a "box" and UPS may let it go. Or, they charge a $5.00 "non-boxed" handling charge for loose items. The other option is to get a large sheet of cardboard, fold it in half and tape the edges together making a flat box (think of shipping it in a giant taco shell), just trim to size and ship.

I've not shipped sway bars, but I've shipped other large items like this and it works pretty well.

The rear 1le bar I ordered from GMpartsdirect came in an old overhead oven fume hood box. They just folded it down in size. If I can sell my old 19mm bar I'll reuse that box.

The guy I bought my 35mm ST bar from (used) just put a shipping label around the bar and sent it. It was a little scratched, but it's just a sway bar. It is not like dropping it is going to hurt it.

I just got a bar from NataSS. Came wrapped in thick UPS plastic which kept it from getting any scratches.

Thanks Nata (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My ST35 came "boxed" but with no other packing. It punched through and the powder coat was fairly banged up. I had a lot of touch up to do, and it still rusted where the powder coat was origianlly damaged.

I don't think peanuts would cut it. I'd tape some newspaper around the bar and box it, then add some peanuts or crumpled paper.

Thanks guys. I think I'll just wrap it and throw a shipping label on it.

Update: I shipped it out today with just a label. Fedex took it like that and it only cost $9.64 to ship from KY to CA. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well thats the last time I use UPS. With the wrap it cost me 25.00 to ship that bar to eric. Looks like I'll be looking for the fed ex shop from now on.

I don't understand how it was so cheap. According to the fed ex website it was going to be $17. I entered weight as 12lbs (1LE front bar) and the dimensions LxWxH. There must be a discount because it was a narrow bar and didn't take up much actual volume.
