.... but its still the G8 GT. Metalic Gray (dark Silver).
we pick it up at 4-5pm today. i was sold when i saw one last week at the local dealer but it was white. we wanted to look at all the colors first. today we saw the dark gray, red and orange. i wasnt intrested in black as a daily driver. white looks nice and red looks pretty good for red, but when we saw the dark silver, that was what we liked the best. we made one mistake though...... we drove it. wow, its a really nice car and i think it will put a large dent in the BMW sales. very large trunk and back seats. the front seats are ungodly comfortable. i couldnt believe i was in a GM.

anyways..... look for a for sale add for the 98Z i have.

Congrats! As soon as I am in the market for a new daily driver in a year or two I will be looking for a 6-speed GT myself, let us know how you like it after you and your wife have driven it for a while. I agree on the BMW comment, between this car and the new CTS GM seems to be turning out some really good cars again.

I saw a black one on the road the other day. It merged in behind me for a bit, and I got to study its front view in the mirror. I thought it was very M3ish with the front fender flares and had nice lines overall. I do think the front would look better without the scoops though. As it passed I looked over the side and rear views, and was somewhat disappointed with the rear view. It reminded me a little (too much) of a Grand Am. I'll probably need to see one up close and in person to really decide if I completely like it.

My dad really wants one, but will wait for next year's model to come out. He's still mad about buying a 2004 GTO and then the 05's come out with 50 more HP and better brakes...

I eyeballed a red one yesterday when I was down looking at a GMC HD, I didn't want to sit in one, even though they all had 6sp autos. I'll wait for a GXP version!

Now if any of you have some tips on how I can talk the wife into a new truck and car, I would owe you one!

The latest Motor Trend has an article on the GXP. 402HP, 6 speed manual. But they are estimating $38K sticker. Looks like a great car though, definitely would give it a look if I was in the market for a 4 door sport sedan.

Looks nice. But I'm concerned with the mileage estimate. Keep us posted on things like that, as well as the first laptimes. ;-)

I'm jealous. I want one. I drove a white GT with leather and the sport package last Friday. I like grey as well, but it's too close to black for me. I already have a black car. I love the way it drives and feels. When test driving I noticed it has a MPG meter in the multifunction dash display between the speedo and tach. In the 15 miles this car had on it, it averaged about 11.x mpg. So it is possible to get very crappy mileage out of them if you keep your foot in it. I too am very interested to find out what your average mpg come in at for daily driving.

That's what I'd like to see. Pontiac is showing upper 20's though. If you an squeeze out around 30, I'm all over one for my new commuter car. C6s can get that, and that's what I keep coming back to.

Yeah. I am looking for something newer that I don't have to worry about crashing a rare car (92 B4C) and something with A/C that works (as opposed to the 88 TII), but still gets decent mileage (25+ MPG). I know I could settle for a Honduh, and a V-6 Quaalude could probably run with the best of them, but I still have problems with FWD. I've queried friends who drive C5s and C6s, and many are capable of around 30 MPG on the highway. Heck, one friend is getting 28 out of his C6 Z06 at 80!! While looking at different cars to get, I keep comparing them to the C6. Heck, I don't need more than 2 seats, so a C6 is perfect, and last year's models are priced right, too. While I am probably going to end up with one, I'm interested in other stuff out there. I'm still looking at the Kappa turbos, and will be real interested in the G8, if the mileage is up there.

Did the first year GT not get the LS3? For some reason i was thinking they did but i could be mistaken. That is an awesome car, i really want a 6 speed model, i think with a bit of suspension work they can be made to handle well, have a near 50/50 weight ditribution if im not mistaken but they are right around 3900-4000lbs. Very nice driver car though, would be my first choice
