This is from the PCA event at TWS 10/24-25. Video is from a GoPro Hero camera....audio quality sucked so I added some music.
Yeah, I know....lap times are sloooow. Excuses are like you-know-what but this was my first time at TWS and some poor guy had just spun a gorgeous Porsche GT3 into the wall entering the back straight 20 minutes before this session...if you look closely you can see the skid marks....seeing that slowed me down a notch or two so be gentle (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z0EGXny8tM |

Nice.
Gotta love the GPH for video recording. The skid marks at 1:57? Wow ... he just freaking blew that corner in order to be way out there. Curious what you finally used to edit the video? |

Mitch - yeah, he started losing the rear end in the big sweeper, was trying to gather it up but it turned into a full tank-slapper by the time he hit the transition to the banking and it was all over at that point. Front end hit the wall hard and then the car spun / drifted down track and smacked the rear end into the pit wall. It was ugly...driver was fine, car looked like a complete write-off.
For the editing, I just used MovieMaker. It wouldn't bring the audio level up enough so I just threw music over top. I'm sure I'll want to figure out a way to get decent audio down the road but given my budget and time constraints, this works for now. Thanks for the tips (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This post has been edited by Casey_SS: Nov 6 2008, 08:31 PM |

I've never been to this track but it looks like it leads all through the infield and there could be 10+ different configurations! I would be afraid of getting lost but it appears you have run this track several times. That's a pretty clean video with very little shake. Did you use a suction cup mount to the windshield?

There are several configurations possible but I've only seen them run this config and just change directions. I ran this track once on a bike going the other direction a few years ago but this was my first time there in the car and first time running the course backwards. Thanks for the compliments on the video...I did use a suction cup mounted to the windshield. I'm really impressed with this camera setup...especially for the price.
