I've heard for many years that auto manufacturers are required to keep parts available for all the models they sell for 10 years. I've looked around on the internet and I can't find the facts. The aftermarket jumps in for popular models and collectibles and dealers around the county have various levels of inventory. It may become important as the big three edge toward bankruptcy. Some of you work in the industry and may know the facts.

Manufacturers are required to have service and maintenence parts available. that can mean either through dealerships or aftermarket supply.
The big 3 aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Ford and GM have been added to the 700billion dollar bail out plan and both ordered to reorganize. -Tim |

I'd have to check, but I believe it's only 7 years, not 10.
