Mitch - I think that I've seen that car either on Ebay or another website. It was for sale about a year ago. I specifically remember it because of the V6 engine and the pic that is on the same runway as Mythbusters.

If you're thinking about it, may want to see what it DIDN'T sell for last time. It could give you an idea of what he'll take for it.

It's Guy Ankeny's car. I have several other pictures of it. If I had the means, and didn't have my own CP project already, it would be mine.

it says it was the 2005 A-Production winner, but the car is marked as a C-Production car, what changes it from competing as AP to CP?

or is CP the new AP and i'm just confusing it bc my dad runs a 66 vette in AP (vintage racing obviously) ?

Interesting looking machine.

Without getting into details, there were a couple of similar cars (GT1, full frame with Fbody bodies) for sale in the SCCA magazine recently. My recollection was they were asking $40K plus for them.

You "thinking about it" Mitch?

Window shopping ...

I think I've seen it numerous times for sale as well. Makes me wonder why it hasn't sold ...

It could be as simple as weight. Now that AP is gone, I'm pretty sure tube cars aren't allowed in XP (the in-excess weight penalty for modified floor pans and tube frames is not in the XP rules as it was in AP). It might have been as simple as ballast it up to the CP required weight for tube cars.

Note: this all applies to auto-x, I have no idea about the SCCA road racing rules.

Weight. Well, and competition.

When he ran it in AP he was able to run it a good bit lighter than is required in CP, though I don't know how far down he actually got the weight. IIRC, he built it as a CP car.

Note that its running a v6, not a v8.

Howdy,

Also, to my knowledge the car was built strictly to autox. No clue if it has brakes that'll stand up to track use, etc. etc.
