I have owned the car for couple of years and autocross it for the last 2 seasons. It has come a long way since I picked it up "stock". I just keep thinking about a C5. Not just for the performance ability, but as a more comfy DD and street toy. I already have my "perfect C5" pictured in my head.

So at the end of this season I'm thinking about selling the car. Setup is as follows:
1995 Z28 M6 non t-top car
70K mi (will go up) (I bought the car with 53K mi on it)
Full exhaust
Dyno tune
SLP air lid under stock LT1 hood
Griffin aluminum radiator
160* thermostat
Meziere EWP(wired with LED warning light)
SLP manual fan switch
Shift light installed
Front strut tower bar
Strano 550/150 springs
Koni on car SA shocks
LS1 front brake swap
Stainless braided front brake lines
Watts link
Suspension Technique 35mm solid front sway bar
Hellwig 22mm solid 3 way adjustable rear sway bar
Eaton TrueTrac put in maybe 2000mi ago with stock gears in the 10-bolt.
Heat and AC work, power windows/locks work (power side mirrors seem to act up though).
No major dents, some dings on hood from rocks. Car cleans up nicely for a 95.
Car is solid and could be taken to the next level.
IMO it is pretty "standard" setup that can be used to race. Most of the weak points have been addressed already.

I want to ask here because I'm not wanting to take parts off of it to put it more to stock. I picture someone on this board being interested and continuing to race it because they know F-bodies and know the worthwhile modifications I have put on the car. At this stage in my life, I feel I want the challenge to save upper a car I want and not buy cars that I stumble upon. This C5 purchase will take over a year (between saving and searching) so I am willing to travel for the right car.

Thanks for any opinions. I know what I paid for it, and how much (roughly) I have into it so I have a sales price in my head but want to know if others think I'm on the right track.

$5-8k depending on condition/color/etc. LT1s are a harder sell right now, everyone wants an LS1 car.

A agree with Nape....and sadly the market seems pretty soft on these cars right now (I sold a 2001 SS M6 (Sunset Orange Metallic) with 35k on it just over a year ago for just over $10k). I'm guessing you'll be closer to $5-6k (and I hope I'm wrong). You'd likely be better off to keep it if you can, and just buy the Corvette. You have far more money in it than you'll ever get out of it (trust me, I've done this on lots of projects....I know all about it). Or, pull the mods off and get what you can for the parts and then sell the car stock for not much less.

That's just my thoughts, I hope I'm wrong.

Sorry, sun-baked brane skipped over that part looking at the mods.

I was interested in your post, too, as we have a 95 convertible Z with a LT4 that we'd like to sell. It has north of 100K miles on the chassis, though, but the engine and suspension mods would likely help a bit.

Trackbird thats what Im afraid of. If I keep driving it and modding it, I will never get money back out of it. I feel like if I go any further there is no return. I can easily remove sway bars and watts link. But thats about it.

I can buy a beater and keep the camaro as it will progressively turn into a track toy the longer I keep it (H/C setup or maybe swap in a 6.0L.)

Or stop with the modding and sell it while I can get OK money for it.

Exactly. You seem to have A LOT more invested in the car for selling it as $14,500. IMO as soon as any motor work occurs...the ability to sell gets even harder unless you sell to a friend that knows you or you have documentation of work done at a reputable shop. Which by that time I would be fully committed to the Camaro and convince myself to keep it.

Unfortunately the market is taking a huge dump for these cars right now. Mine is an LS1 car more heavily modded than yours, so there is no point trying to return it to stock, and it would be a time consuming shame to part the car out. I'm going to lose my shirt when I try to sell it.

Hey...it's just "different". People give me crap for owning a purple camaro but I don't mind it. Red and black is all too common.

Nape, multiply that number by at least 2 and I would consider it (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
