Today was a great Detroit day. Last night on the news they said we would likely get more than 8" of snow today, so I was prepared to be really depressed today. However, I drove to work this morning without incident, went out a couple of times during the day and had a little fun sliding around. Got to see a semi-truck driver next door at work trying for over an hour to get out of the parking lot, left work right at 5 PM while other wussies stayed in the office to "let things die down a little", out drag-raced many a 4WD vehicle in my '95 Monte Carlo (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) from stop lights, made it home in only about 10 minutes longer than normal, cleared off the snow from 3 cars, snow blew the driveway with my ultra-cool snowblower, salted the driveway, put the cars back in the driveway, watched the snow plow throw a big pile back in my driveway, went back out and shovelled this up, and was all done by 8 PM while other neighbors were still outside working and some of my friends were probably still at work watching the snow fall.
On 2nd thought I have no idea why I'm in such a good mood. This never happened in Memphis. I think I just love power tools and between having such an easy drive home and throwing the snow many feet through the air (got a little bit of Tim Allen going here) I just kept on being amazed nothing went wrong. I think I've been here too long. I knew exactly what to do when I got home and knew how to dress so I didn't get cold at all when outside. Meanwhile, if I was in Texas right now I bet I would have pulled off my headers last weekend and done even more this week. |

Yesterday (and the day before) it was sunny and in the mid 70s. After a long weekend of thrashing on the car in 60 degree weather, I sweated my ass off cleaning the shop. My Tee shirt and gym shorts were soaked!
Last night, a friend let me borrow his MIG welder and I played around with it for a while, making some nifty modern "art". I then proceeded to weld in an air hose reel. Could have just as easily bolted it in, but I had the welder .... A cold snap is on the way ... upper 50s for a high and near freezing at night. Need to break out the thermals. I just wish it didn't get dark so early, and it would be nice if the garage was a bit warmer (semi-heated but ...). |

I wish it would snow here. It has been mid to upper 70's. Although it gets damn near 50 at night, might have to go buy a jacket. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Yes, yes. I know guys. My Mom wrote an email to me saying it was in the 60's this week in Memphis. I remember the good old days.
I keep on telling you southern guys to help me find a job as fun as what I have up here and I'm there. Until I can find such a job I'll tolerate the weather here. |

minus 9 degrees on my back deck this morning. Forecasting record lows tonight, -12 air temperature (pre wind chill).
We received our major delievery at the restaurant this morning. To stay warm we'd go inside the walk-in refrigerator, a balmy 32 degrees (seriously)! I'll check the thermometer later (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) |

Got another 4" of snow or so today. My trailer must have about 12-15" of snow on top of it now. Cranked up the 23K BTU heater today with the 30K Reddy Heater and I was quite warm in the garage.
Spare engine block arrives on Monday so I'm taking the day off of work. Let the fun begin. |

Glenn and Kevin came over today.
Glenn helped me plumb my engine oil cooler and helped Kevin install a Sparco seat. I then helped Kevin install a hitch on his TA to pull a diddy trailer. Both doors of the shop were open and I was in a T-shirt all day. I'm sure it snowed somewhere ... just no here! |

I spoke to my cousin in N.Y. He said it is -1* without the wind chill (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) They set some new record. It was 75* and sunny here today. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Supposed to get more snow in the middle of next week. The sad thing is I've been here in Detroit for about 4 1/2 years now and I'm getting used to the winters. This year I get serious about finding a job in a warmer climate though. Mahle has their motorsports office in North Carolina near the Tennessee border. Hmm . . .

All the people that come from warmer climtate can kiss my *** (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) . It was -22F (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) just the other morning. Snow/ice does make you learn Great car control. I can drift my car all day long and enjoy it. Also not that bad on tires either. I just need the snow gone by march 15, need to do some upgrades to my car. I have a driving school at Beave run April 3 and 4. Later John

I would love to come, but as being a Newbie to RR I need to get signed off by the One Lap of America staff saying that I can/know how to drive a race car. Its going to be a OLOA sponsored driving school I have to attend! Better yet why not sign up for the OLOA 04 and put a few road and just a couple track miles (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) on the car in a week. Try loading a Camaro on GS-C's on an off a car trailer with snow on the ground and a temperature of -2. That's right, I did it... on Friday. I had to get to the alignment shop before going to Va Beach to shakedown my car (now in ESP trim) before trucking to Fla/Ga in 2 weeks. That's about when I'll be truly sick of this stuff and will need a break. BTW, don't forget to test fit that new 35mm hollow bar before you go.
