Just wondering. I can't stand the power driver's seat in my hardtop '94 anymore. My helmet constantly rubs the headliner. I'd like to lower the seat about two inches...I'm thinking with some custom brackets it might be possible.

I lost head room with my new seats. The slider and bracket are at least 1" higher. You would need to custom build a bracket to get a lower height.

The stock manual rails sit lower than the stock electric rails. I just put a Forza II in my T/A with the Corbeau seat bracket, and it sits lower than the stock T/A seats (which were higher than my '98's manual seats).

I didn't actually do a before/after measurement, but I think my Corbeau A4s sit about 1/2" higher than the lowest my power seats would go. This doesn't create any issues for me, but then I'm only 5'9". Plus, since my wife is only 5'1", this is about the best compromise I can get since she drives the car too (I still may need to get some kind of bottom insert for her to raise her up some). Of course, I'm also thinking of putting some spacers on the front mounts to tilt the seat a little, which would also help with clearance a little since I'll be sitting back at a larger angle.

Does your car have power seats or manual? Thanks Kevin, I appreciate the bracket pics on your page. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

I had the same issue with the stock manual seat so I put a Kirkey intermediate in it and now I have 3" between my head and the roof. Its even below the roll bar (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I put in Kirkey Deluxe roadrace seats and now I'm so low that I'm thinking about raising myself back up another inch. I used the Kirkey aluminum mounts with some custom mounts below that to work with the f-body floor. The other day I was driving around and was so low, that I'm having a hard time seeing where the curb and sidewalk is when making a right turn off of my street. I also had a hard time seeing my way into a dark lit driveway. I'm 5'8". Without a helmet, I easily have 6"+ of headroom.

I put a set of Recaro Trend seats in mine, and the drivers side has a power height adjustment, however it uses the manual tracks, so it is lower. I have not measured it, but I don't rub my helmet. BTW I am 5' 11".

Oh, and when I had the Recaro SRD/Sports, I lost a bit of headroom. The brackets got me up pretty high.

Some aftermarket seat rails are designed to allow for a lowering of the seating position. Here's an example:

I have the same deal got alot more headroom w/ a Safecraft seat like KIrky Int. or Del. shape and height wise.
The brackets/braces for my seat are fabbed up stuff not aftermarket. But 1" dom,I rest right on the humps of the OE seat mout. So the seat butt is 1" off the hump. 2.5" ? to the floor directly under seat.
But yes alot more headroom vs. the factory power unit. +3" approx. Just enough now I think. With the cover on and padding in it is alright but different I'm gonna try it this way. If issues develop possible remedies for me I think will be thicker pad or shim up seat. 5'11"
