Most racers never really get any recognition for their efforts. After all our cars are usually stripped down, the paint is chipped up from the track etc. and there's always the show & shine car that would photo so much better . Imagine mine and Boyce's surprise to find our cars featured in the newest issue of GMHTP (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Below is a link to a thread in the NW section of LS1tech where we tend to hang. There's a couple of pics of the articles for anyone that's interested.

Very nice ... congrats!

It seems as thought eh publishers of GMHTP and HPP have started recognizing this platform for something more than straighline acceleration.

I got it the other day too and read it. Nice job guys! I also like to see non-drag racers get recognition. How far north of 185mph have you gone?

probably sniffed 190 but had to lift since I was running out of road. There is a stretch of I-5 just in the area where Bill lives that can get pretty empty at certain times of the day. Stopped looking at the speedo once it went past 180mph and kept my foot in it for a little bit longer.

Its one thing to do that near sea level. Its another thing to do that at 5000ft of elevation with DA's at 9000 (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) . Those were the conditions at the PE130 where they took the pictures.

Thanks guys. It means alot coming from a jury of my peers (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I never thought any publication would even notice an ORR fbody at all let alone want to feature us in their magazine (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) We seem to be invisible most of the time (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) Just a bunch of crazys out on the fringes of the racing community ya know ? haha ! Maybe this'll help get a few more people interested. Anybody wanna go next August to the PE130 lol ! :drive: It looks like there will be 4 of us fbodys from our local club that will go at that time. I think Boyce and I are bad influences (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif)

Thanks again
Bill Springer

BTW here's a video of the last 15 miles or so of the PE130 that the article was about if anybody is curious ?

thanks for posting the video.

Your drive through the oil at speed just reassures me that you guys got lots of GUTS.

Being a land speed racing lover I have the dream of joining the 200mph club (legally) one day.

Great video. That looks like a blast. Where is the pe130? It looks like the Cal/Nev desert. If so, I would like to go check that out.

the PE130 is held in Battle MTN. NV. about an hour outside Elko. REALLY small town. Most all of these events are held in very small towns.

Someday I'd like to join in your reindeer games! I figure my wife wants to go to Vegas sometime, so that'll be the perfect chance to run the Silver State.

Congrats on the write-up you two! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

How come your speedo says about 120 most of the time on the video?

I really enjoyed the article, when I read it, I had no idea it was anyone in here. Very cool.

The speedo is a Granatelli 205 mph speedo. The needle probably IS about where 120 would be on the stock speedo, so I can see where is might look a little misleading. Maybe you should go by the tach which seems to be stuck on 6000 rpm (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif) I was hoping the GPS read out would be visible on vid but no dice (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

I let my subspcription for that magazine expire. I got tired of the duct taped quartermile wonders. Alot of their tech articles are just flat out misleading, made up, or crap that works in the opposite way of what's claimed. I do like the change they are having for the time being, til' the next issue when they do another write up on a Buick, or some dude named Roscoe that has triple mortgaged his trailer for an engine from Jantzer Performance.
