Jon recently brought a very old thread back from the dead on CC. Despite his original topic name (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) , it's about half brake tech and half a test case for emachineshop.com. Custom brake bracket Since I can't use Porsche brakes in my class, the custom machining test case was of greater interest to me. Ergo, I put this in General Discussion instead of Suspension Tech, but either would be appropriate. A local shop is currently making some parts for me but it was clear they weren't that interested in doing small projects. |

That came up in one of the Porsche brake threads, but I'm not sure there was as much info here as there is on that thread (I read it a while ago). I am still trying to decide if I need to try to build a Porsche brake setup or not (just "because"....and I'm running at least one track event this year, probably a few).

If I had the dimensions for that bracket, I could get them reproduced no problem. A friend of mine owns a machine shop and always does one-off stuff for me at a good price. EDIT- He could also copy the rotor hub spacer, and redrill the rotors. |

What I found interesting is that it's a good benchmark piece for the service - the brackets Jon designed are in the range of size, complexity, finish, and cost for something that I might actually consider as a custom project. The beautiful telescope bracket that someone posted on CC didn't really give me a feel for what a "real world" (racing!) part might cost.
