This is the third year I've had the OLN channel and have watched the Tour. Granted there are no motors involved, but the racing and strategies are absolutely fascinating to me. I shamefully sit down from 7-10 CST and watch the three straight hours of prime time coverage.

heh, I've been doing the same for the past 4+ years. Very addicting when there is someone to root for. I just wish they'd cover some of the other Americans more, like Levi, Bobby, and Tyler.... Maybe Zabrieski for next year

I don't get any good cable channels, but I've been following it with great interest too. You would be surprised how many auto racers are into bicycling as well. There are several bicycle guys in my local AX club, and one even owns a shop. Even though there are not any motors involved, much of the same mentality applies: making you and your machine work as efficiently as possible. When I'm not figuring out how to get weight off my car, I'm taking weight of my bikes or myself.

I too love to see the bikes, I've been following it the last couple fo years, use to have a carbon fibre framed 27 speed bike, I loved that thing, I could keep up with traffic in the 35mph zones, wrecked once though....it was somewhat disagreable. You could pick the bike up with two fingers. If it goes fast and corners well, takes some skill to operate, I'm generally into it.

Lance-A-Mania is crazy down here... Living in his 'Home Town'. can't turn the channel w/o seeing something on the local broadcast stations. After last years tour they had a huge parade, shutting down congress avenue, live band, and lighting up the capitol w/ yellow spot lights. he rode in the parade w/ alot of other people. We even had an entire city bus in complete yellow vinyl wrap w/ Lance all over it.

That's awesome! I wish I get more news on Lance around here. Is there a good website I could go to to get all the latest on Lance et la Tour de France?

ESPN is a bit lacking. It's too bad poker gets more attention on a dedicated sports network than does an actual sport with mind boggling endurance requirements.

http://www.velonews.com is good
http://sports.yahoo.com/sc is the next best thing.

I think Greg LeMond had referred to cycle racing as a cross between running and auto racing....

'current stage' then 'Newsflashes' are great for work. updates every few minutes.
also bob/phil/paul daily updates a few hours after the finish. I still end up watching after knowing the results. Mountain stages are the absolute best. I don't think I'd be even half as intersted if there weren't mountains.

I always liked him too. Saw him once at the Tour DuPont in PA.
