I'd like to welcome Northern Tool and Equipment to frrax as our newest supporting vendor. Northern sells tools and we seem to buy them, so I look forward to a happy relationship with them. The link is in the sponsor bar at the top of the page. Please check out their site, they have some neat and useful stuff.

Thanks!

OMG, Northern Tool Rocks!!! I have actually driven the 360 miles to the Dallas Metroplex JUST to visit their Retail store there! Some bargains, some things unavailable elsewhere,

Course... I never have needed much excuse for a road trip, either. :drive:

I really like their hoists, and they do deliver in Canada, notice the candian flag being wrenched on the top right... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif)
I'll gladly get a hoist from a sponsor... and their prices are better than what I was quoted.
but it seems that they end up being more w/ 1k$ shipping and 1k$ installation. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
Maybe I'm misreading the whole thing.

Drill a hole, insert a blind nut, install like a pop rivet ... instant flush mounted blind nut ...

Click on the link in the sponsor banner and search on these words ...

"Threaded Insert Tool"

Edited to give proper credit to FRRAX

I've used my buddy's Snap-on version of that tool and it is very handy. I think they call it "nutsert" but it looks like the same thing. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

When I was building my race car and installing adell clamps to hold the wiring loom, the battery cables and such, it is so easy to just install a #10 machine screw to hold the clamps in place.

I installed all my relays on the HVAC block off panel using nutserts.

Mounted my PS cooler, PS remote reservoir, transponder .... endless uses ....

That's what I would have thought, but I haven't been able to enter the right search words to get them to appear...

Where do you get the inserts?

If not, I know of other sources (I was in aviation). PM me.

And, if you use Mitch's link, please click the link in the sponsor bar first (that's how they track what site sent you to them).

Howdy,

Anyone ever seen any inexpensive installation tools for metric versions of these? Last time I looked around (happened to be working on a bmw), the only reasonably priced versions were SAE only.

Ended up installing them with some washers/ grease / flat bar, which "worked" but certainly isn't something I'd recommend...
