a couple of you may not want to revisit this
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=409382 my brain really hurts sometimes reading this stuff. Especially in a handling and braking section. Yes, that thread is full of slotted rotors to release the gas from pads comments, and the classic QUOTE drive backwards and apply the brake and do that a few times and see if that helps I'm not knocking the site in general, it's helpful for many things, but still........ |

Think that's bad? Step into the "General Discussion" forum of any BMW board. Alot of people with nice cars, no common sense, and too much money...

I'd pretty well stopped going there too. Amazing how fast things have degenerated and how little has been learned depite the efforts from several frrax people in the past.
It gets uglier every year the fbody isn't replaced as the LS1's get more and more affordable to the teens and the plain moronic. The pool of intelligent, reasoned owners gets smaller every day. |

That is the reason why I came over here (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif) . You guys offer real knowledge without the sorting of junk.
-I remember driving backwards (to set the parking brake for old drum brakes (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif) ) -I remember telling my brother at Monster Mile not to just hold the brakes or they will fade (sure enough he came back telling me he held the brakes to the floor from 125mph until they faded away and that was what cause my warped rotors (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) ) Anyone remember the chromed rotor thread (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif) . |

the one that really took the cake (i think on z06vette.com) was a slacker who posted a pic of his car at the dragstip... 30 posts later there was 1 post asking what he ran and 29 posts saying nice wax job - it's zaino. I lost several brain cells reading that thread that I will never go back (and all this time I was blaming the bottle of vodka I drank in Russia) |

I never go into any other section, but the PCM reprogramming section on LS1 tech. There is still some crap to weed through, but it's not as bad. Plus there is some good info there (PCM section) for those who want to learn.

Plus there is some good info there (PCM section) for those who want to learn. oh don't even start me on the moronisms spread on forums, and i'd say PCM section is one of the worse (although is getting better, due to consistant head bashing from few ppl that actually know what they're doing). These ppl will take so much completely on faith, but when i present them with math and physics and scientific experimentation they jump on my throat, simply because it goes against what's been admited as 'truth' before. it's a contest of who's more public/loud/obnoxious about their finds than who's methodology's cleaner. they really test my patience sometimes, as their complete lack of patience and knowledge of anything remotely scientific gets in a way of spreading what i consider (only after extensive validation by experimentation) to be correct. the only reason why i keep correcting and demonstrating my point time after time is to populate the forums enough that the 'signal to noise ratio' improves. keep on fighting the good fight, and one day maybe we won't have to explain why drilled rotors are not really worth it. yea, right (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

I read that forum a couple times, it was painful. CZ28.com is just as bad. There are some knowledgable folks, but the signal to noise ratio is terrible.

LS1Tech has really went downhill. I remember when all the mindless fbody punks hung out at the SLP forum . . . then SLP pulled the plug on that forum and a lot of them took up residence at LS1Tech.
I think I'm finished trying to save people from the Strut Tower Brace trap. You get them staightened out one day, and a couple days later there is a thread with 30 testimonials of "I put a STB on my car and felt an immediate improvement, the car was totally changed!" QUOTE (Cal @ Dec 4 2005, 14:02) QUOTE (Teutonic Speedracer @ Dec 4 2005, 13:57) Some of those guys are real Aholes over there! They are giving me a hard time about trying to get 2k miles out of valvesprings for a cam. They don't read what you right and what your intentions are. There's a lot of idiots on LS1Tech that aren't worth your time to try and help them. But the guys on Corner Carvers are just down right ruthless! I didnt even get approved for membership on corner carvers (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) |

The word "Stang" causes some violent reactions over there and that might have been the problem. |

You can't register with certain e-mail domains either like yahoo or such. I had to use my old college account to register.
