I need to rebuild my calipers when I change my front pads next month. Thought it would be a good time to upgrade the front brake lines.

Does anyone have (or do any sponsors carry) a set of just the front stainless lines, plastic coated to keep all the arizona sand and dust out. I don't know much about the different brands of coated hose, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Car is a 2001 Firebird, non-TCS. As an aside, any good places aside from the dealer to get the rebuild kits? Thanks, Jeff |

I got a set of sealed KVR/Goodridge brake lines from stranoparts. I don't know if they can get the fronts only, but it can't hurt to ask. I bought the full set but only installed the fronts. I'll change the rears the next time I have a reason to work on the rear brakes.

Stoptech also sells coated stainless steel hoses. Its site says you can order just the fronts, which are around $75. Link here.

Do the lines have protective coating/sheathing on them? I don't see anything in Russell's literature about it.

Jeff, they do indeed have the protective sheathing on them. Here is a pic I found on Summit's website:

Edit: Can't believe I'd had these sitting in a box of parts the whole time (Russell fronts). Showed up with a bunch of stuff, never looked close enough to realize they were clear coated (IMG:http://www.free-smileys.org/emo/sf/doh.gif)
