Howdy,
http://www.maracing.com/wheels/ Folks, the camera hobby is overtaking my need to keep these wheels/tires I bought from Kevin a while back. I got them because they were a good deal and I figured I might want to use them. So far, no plans to do so, I'm still playing with the car on 17x9.5's and probably will continue to do so for track stuff. On the other hand, I really want to go buy a Sigma 70-200 lens for my canon... :-) So they're for sale. These are the normal silver replicas, 17x11, straight/true, a couple cone marks, etc. They currently have some nearly gone 315 s04's on them. I'd like to get $550, not including shipping. In a week and a half, I'll be heading out to the Peru Tour and can deliver anywhere between here and there. If you want just the wheels, I can remove the tires to save on shipping costs, but the price is still $550. Email me at mark at sccaprepared dot com. Thanks! Mark, what condition are the tires in. I think you told me but I don't remember exactly.
...I am seriously considering these... |

are you thinking on the 70-200 f/2.8 version of the lense ?
Some to consider, are also the Sigma 100-300 f/4 (roughly same price as the above mentionned lense) If budget allows, there is also the Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 (which is pricier... but great lense) I have a 80-200 f/2.8 and love it.... having a 120-300 would be nicer, though... especially for sporting events. |

Yeah, AFAIK, Sigma only makes the f/2.8 version of the 70-200... I'm not sure what I want to do. Looking around more, Canon also has a consumer grade 100-300 with ring USM. That might be a nice budget way to go. The 100-300 f/4 is also about the same cost as the 70-200 f/2.8 w/1.4 TC... I think I'd rather do the latter if I go that way. I'm still not sure what reach I'm going to want for track stuff. For autox, I think I want the ability to get to 300mm. Who knows. But ultimately... I'd rather have a lens than these wheels/tires! :-) Mark |

As much as you can afford (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I shoot with a cheap Tokina 24-200mm on a Digital Rebel and even with the 1.6 crop factor its not really enough on a smaller autocross lot. |

Yea, I was shooting a Nikon F100 with an 80-200 AFS F2.8 and at the World Challenge races, I needed about twice that.

Howdy,
Well, with the 1.6 crop factor on the Rebel XT I have, a Sigma 100-300 will be around 480mm on the top end. And its compatible with a converter, so I can go further if necessary. I think that's the way I'm going to go in terms of range. The only remaining question is if I do the relatively cheap Canon 100-300 USM consumer lens or the Sigma 100-300 f/4 'real' lens. I'm probably going to go for the latter... ...if I can get these wheels sold! :-) Mark |

the cropping factor won't make it equivalent of a higher mm lense... it doesn't change the compression... the 1.6x is only for zoom-in.
by taking a pic @ 50mm, then only taking half of it and then make it twice as big by a simple resize, doesn't make that a 100mm pic... it's so weird how they use wrongful terms to get sales. Anyways... I have a 80-200 f/2.8 and find myself using a doubler, making the lense a 160-400 f/5.6 So I would rather have a 120-300 rather than a 80-200... the 80-120 loss for the gain in the 200-300 is worthed, even with a 1-stop loss. I'm considering getting a sigma 300-800 f/5.6 (known as the sigmonster) after all, when I'm in the 200-400 with my 80-200 f/2.8 + doubler, I'm photographying @ f/5.6 anyways. So having 1 body with the 80-200 and another w/ the 300-800 makes it for a perfect match. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But that lense is bloody expensive. Anyways... unless you are going to get a high mm telephoto lense, your best bang would be the 120-300mm imho, especially if you do sporting events, such as cars. you can always crop pix anyways afterwords... that's why higher resolution comes in handy... but you can't get more "equivalent mm" by croping factors... that's bs, imho... like the weather ppl saying that it's 10'F outside and the wind makes the temperature be @ -10'F BS... temperature is still 10'F... it feels colder because the wind removes the dissipated heat faster.... anyways... pet-peeves... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) oh... sorry to hijack... good luck on selling the wheels so you can get the lense |

Howdy,
Yeah, 50mm offset. I'm not sure on the manufacturer. I suspect AFS, but Kevin may know for sure. On the back, they just say "Made in China". This weekend I'll have some time to hose them off and take pics. Mark P.S. I'm gonna disagree a little on the lens / crop factor stuff. If I've got an 8mp sensor and its physically smaller than the area of the 35mm film that folks are used to thinking about lens focal distances with, it makes sense to me to convert the 100-300 to 160-480. Obviously the focal length of the lens doesn't magically increase, but focal length without a corresponding sensor area is a meaningly number anyway. And I agree that the 120-300 f/2.8 lens would probably be good, but that's $2k vs. the 100-300 f/4's $900. I'm already stretching to get to $900. I'd have to sell the damn camaro to get into that range of lenses... :-) |

Ohh, Ohh, Ohh....I want the car.....(now to find that pile of cash I lost).
They were 1440 lb rated as I remember, so I wasn't sure they were AFS wheels. They might be from OE wheels, but I won't swear to it. |

Most probably they are AFS wheels from the 2nd manufacturer. Around 2003ish (when I bought mine) they switched from a Korean manufacturer that said 2800lbs on the back to the Chinese ones that said 1400lbs. I've got 2 of each, 'cause I bought the pairs off eBay for $150 per pair about 2 months apart.

50mm = offset, not a 50mm lens (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif)

Howdy,
Pics of wheels: http://www.maracing.com/wheels/ Two tires are ok/thin. One tire is really damn thin. The other tire is corded. Mark |

Howdy, Bump! Need to sell these to pay for this new lens... Mark I only need 2 of these since I have a 3rd gen. Maybe we could work out a 3 way deal since I would want 9.5's for the front. Anybody have a set of 9.5's and would like 11's for the back? Mark, can you come down in price? You can buy a XYZ set new on XYZ for $XYZ. Howdy,
Well, the only reason I'm selling these is to pay for other stuff. If I drop the price (particularly if I split up the set), that gets to be less and less motivation for me. I've not seen anywhere that you can buy a set of 17x11 wheels for $550 new. Got any links for me? Mark |
