A friend called and talked to the event organizer. It seems that it's not intended to be a true endurance race, but they are stressing safety gear, which is somewhat reassuring. And I don't think they are going to let drivers out there drunk. My take is that it's a semi-serious semi-endurance race where everyone takes a break in the middle to have a couple beers, get some sleep, then do some more driving. A serious team can take the time to look over their car, but there doesn't seem to be any reward for doing so. It's the inaugural event, so I suspect they aren't sure how it's going to go down. Jason Jason, Listening to te discussion of the event at Bonneville, the 8 hour party section was every much a measure of endurance as the race portion. |
