The Sandhills Open Road Challenge is unique in Open Road Racing events. It is a 52 mile race held on twisty, narrow farm roads out of Arnold, NE. I have always wanted to try it because our ORR Camaro is really set up to handle. Speeds in this event are MUCH lower due to the twisty, narrow, rough road. This video is from Mike Border's Cup car that set the course record of 133mph on the first leg.

The race is held the first part of August each year and entries typically close in October! I was lucky enough to get a slot for '07.

SORC Part 1

You can see the second part on youtube as well.

You lucky dog. This looks better than I had heard. Also glad to see your RRORR results Andy.

I hope to come out and play more next year as the car is just about sorted out.

Later, Guy

Come on Guy!

One of the things I hate about this ORR racing is the politics -- it is the good ole' boy mentality at its worst. SORC has its' 'Lifers' who make up a good 2/3's of the available slots it seems. So the ones that DON'T get in bad mouth the race --- yada yada yada. It happens in Nevada and it happens out at Ft Stockton. My race is better than yours, mines is bigger than yours. I had heard the SORC road was abominable -- a rutted little cowtrack no better than a gravel road . Looks pretty good to me........

Look forward to seeing you in the Spring Guy!
