If you're interested in a set of trackbrackets C5 conversion brackets, please add your name to this thread. I've had a few people asking when the next batch might be done, so I figured we better get a list started.

Thanks!

Kevin

Citationdoc
Spooner

(unless I hear otherwise, that was the list I was starting with)

Edit: I called the machine shop today and should have the correct price in the next couple days (after they verify the cost of aluminum).

EDIT: The price on this GP will be $239 and $10 shipping (48 states of the US only, other shipping will be additional).

For a batch of 11, that leaves 9 left.

For the newbs (aka.. ME) can you describe this item?

What I've gathered... C5 brake conversions require a special bracket... this is a GP for that particular braket.

I guess what I'm really looking for are testimonies from C5 converted brake users... should I start a new thread?

My ESP car is...( trying anyway )... to become a budget buildup competitor and after talking with my GM parts guy ealier this week, he told me he can get the C5 rotors somewhere below $30 ea. Is there a direct source for the calipers?

Thanks, and sorry for cluttering up the thread!!

-John

Yes, this kit allows you to install C5 Z06 (or just C5, they are the same, the Z06 just got red calipers), C6 Z51 and C6 Z06 brakes on your F-body. You'll need to do some trimming on the spindle, but it fits LT1 or LS1 spindles.

For track use, you'll want the C5 brakes, the others have various issues that prevent them from being as effective as they could be for hard use.

I'll probably split this out of the thread if we get too much tech going in this thread, but I'll leave it here for now.

I'll try to add photos tonight. I don't have any here with me to post at this time.

Here are a few threads you might want to read:

http://frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?act=ST&...2619&hl=bob

http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?sho...shop&st=40#

This is a GP thread, but there is info and feedback there too:

http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?sho...bishop&st=0

Here's the list of parts needed to finish the kit:

Not to rag Kevin but the last batch took quite awhile longer than he expected. A month is probably not realistic, just so you know ahead of time.

I say this just to point out that this is a GP, and relies on a LOT of other people to do what they say will and my experience is they often don't (like send in their money for example).

I just completed my C5 installation two weeks ago and have not had the car out yet to test them but they sure do look cool..... The bracket kit comes complete with all new hardware, but you will also need to order all the GM parts form your favorite source and decide on pads. This can be done within a week typically once you have the brackets.

I was going to mention that Bock, but I have a potential plan for him (I have a set I might be able to send him now, after I am sure I will have a batch to replace them).

I was fixing an avatar for a member today, I uploaded his new one and then forgot which avatar (the name) I was using. I downloaded all the current avatars from the server and didn't see it in there (which is quite odd). So, I just uploded something else.

I'm working with a vendor about stocking some of them and we should have them ready towards the middle of next month. We're going to build a batch either way. So, we're going to be a go, even if we don't get 11 right off. So, I'll let you know when to send the payments in for the brackets.

I would really like a set as well but I now own/have 12 salad shooters with an assortment of tires (street, drag slicks, even blizzaks) so I would like/prefer to keep these rims/tires for street use.

I know that LS1 fronts work but not the C5 with 16" rims right?

17 minimum for the conversion correct?

Will 17x9.5 ZR1 replicas work?

Ok guys, it's time to start collecting the money on these. That way I should have everyones payments by the time the brackets are ready. I'll try to get an ETA on that in the next few days, but they should be coming up soon.

I need to put a PM together and send it to everyone. We can do paypal (please add 3.5% for fees) or mail a money order. I'll PM the info sometime today (when I get a chance).

do these fit sort of like the conversion brackets for the third gen? I know its a different look totally I'm just wondering though as the C6 brakes bolt up on a 3rd gen with the c5 brackets the difference is in the caliper itself and not the bracket. but im very new to the 4th gens so it may not be the same...

You can install C5/C6/C6 Z51 and C6 Z06 brakes (as long as your wheels clear). The installation is different than a third gen, but the concept is the same. Did that answer your question?

Mojave is correct, you can't run these in ESP.

The anodizers should have them as I type this. We're doing a larger batch than usual and it's taking a bit longer than expected. Sorry for the delays.

They are supposed to be headed back from the anodizers now, so they need checked, boxed and shipped. I'm hoping to have them within the next two weeks to ship out. I'm pushing for sooner, but I can't promise it. Sorry for the delays.

Ouch.

We do have stock, if you want to go with the C5 stuff. Just send me a paypal for $249 to:

trackbird(at)columbus.rr.com

Mark it with your shipping address and your screen name (so I can keep track) and I'll have them sent out ASAP.

If paypal doesn't work, send me a PM and we'll get you fixed up with other options.

Thanks!
