couple of questions on possible rear 1/4 and inner wheel well modifications:
1. Would doing a mini tub job in the inner rear wheel wells - similar to the vette kit sold by lingenfleter (but via metal) and other kits help with getting larger tires under it? Something tells me the lower control arm in the rear limits the actual tire wheel combo that goes inward is that true? 2. Would stretching the rear 1/4 panels (similar to dragsters getting a true tub job) lead to a bigger and wider tire too or does one need to cut and relocate the top of the fender lip up and add some sort of rear finder flares? |

With 17x11's on my 2002 Camaro, I hit the stock LCA before anything else on the inside. You can get offset rod ended LCA's (Hotpart has them) that give you a good bit more room. But you still probably don't need to "mini tub" it, I don't think you can get a tire under it far enough to be worth it.
Lonnie ESPCamaro (I think) here had 335/35-17's (or 335/30-17's) on the rear of his LT1 car, but he had flared the fenders to do it. |
