How many of you racers have moved the battery to the trunk to help balance out the front/rear weight ratio? Is it helpful? What other options are there to assist in balancing the car?

I agree wholeheartedly about folks who put the batteries in the little hole by the rear fenders.....sounds like a good idea, but is bad for the crush zone you mention. However, my spare tire well IS within the confines of my cage, and if I get hit that deep into the car....I am NOT going to be worrying about the battery getting taken out.
