QUOTE Van Dyk takes fourth consecutive win, ties record By Lisa Gentes, Associated Press | April 19, 2004 BOSTON -- South African Ernst Van Dyk completed the fastest wheelchair marathon ever, winning his fourth consecutive Boston Marathon in one hour, 18 minutes, 27 seconds. The 31-year-old Van Dyk was nearly three minutes faster than the record of 1:21:23 set by Heinz Frei of Switzerland in 1994, also in Boston. Van Dyk finished in 1:28:32 last year. Second-place finisher Joel Jeannot also beat the record, finishing in 1:21:08. ...and in 83-86 degree weather... That's some impressive racing! |

I'm just happy to maintain a sub-10 minute mile!!!
I had had designs on prepping for some long runs, including up to a half-marathon, but recurring shin splints have caused me to switch back to cycling. I just can't deal with the pain of the splints anymore. |
