Not my video, but thought I'd post a link here since it's an ITE Camaro. This track looks pretty scary from a run-off standpoint. Anyone here been on it?

Oh I would like to and eventually will...but my plans keep getting pushed back and back; damn life keeps getting in the way. It was all I could do just to make it to a couple time trials this year (and even that was with a broken car) which is what I was planning several years ago. Right now I just can't justify gutting and caging the car knowing I might make one or two races a season with our work schedules. I like the car too much. So for a while longer I figure I'll try and just do the TT thing as time allows and keep the car streetable. It seems more sensible when I drive it to the track. I figure there's no sense in ripping it appart until I know I can actually get to the track for a full season of races. At 3720 lbs, it'd be tough to keep with you and Chuck and the gang even if I get my engine fixed and drive well. But I'll be damned if I'm going to spend 8 hours on the freeway in a day in August for a track day at PIR with no A/C or stereo!

FWIW, here's my video contribution from this season to compare: http://www.jonaadland.com/Videos/Pacific%20Raceways.wmv

That was on my street driven Nittos and I now know the engine was only making full compression in 3 cylinders (less power than my stock motor with a cam was making) when I ran that. If you put a stopwatch on it you can see how much time I was losing on the front and back straights. There was more time I left elsewhere, but talk about disappointing....

So Randy, that should tell you what #1 on the list is: Pull the motor, fix the motor, make sure the motor actually works.....etc. I'm pretty sure those missed shifts at the beginning of the first day I took it to the track bent a bunch of valves. Hopefully that's all. After doing the compression check it's amazing to me the thing was running at all.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Damn Jon, sorry to hear about your engine. I hear ya, though. Life can certainly compete with the time we're able to dedicate to our sport. Gotta have priorities and balance. I was the same as you before I caged my car. It was still my commuter too. It wasn't until I started using a beater Ford Exploder for my commuter vehicle that I finally made the leap to a full cage. Until then, Solo1 was enough to keep me entertained and offered a lot of bang for the buck adrenaline before taking it to the next level. Even now, I only do as much as 4 or 5 races per year. Your car isn't so heavy. Mine weighs 3625 with my fat ass in the drivers seat. Why would you go all the way to PIR? Why not just do events at Bremerton and PR? BTW, your car sounds wicked, even with 3 bad cylinders!
