NYS Police use LS1 powered 4th Gens in rural areas to patrol areas prone to high speed trucking etc.. Upstate Rte. 17 has several in service. Don't think the State Police would spend the extra $$$ for a ZR-1 though.

Don't think the State Police would spend the extra $$$ for a ZR-1 though. Yes...I was busted by one of them several years ago in Plattsburgh, NY on my way to an F1 race in Montreal. I saw him cruising on the other side with his lights on, and said to my buddies; "check out the white Z28 cop car chasing someone".....who knew he would tool through the median and pull me over. That was an 86 in a 65 (21 over is 6pts....20 over would have been 4pts). The cop tried to get me to commit to a much higher speed, but I told him I was just following the blue taurus for the last few hours. Probably trip digit at times. I was in my 95 Honda Accord at the time, and I know he saw my "I'd rather be driving my 01 Z28..." license plate frame. He gave me a hard time and told me I needed to catch up to the BMW he had just nabbed at 98mph. When he pulled away, he was borderline lighting up the tires. I was very pissed! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) Through the help of family in NY, it was knocked down to a 2pt. failure to yield. |
