In car video. This was my ninth race and first podium finish. My fastest lap was 2:16:1. The top five finishers broke the CMC full course track record.

The diff is a TrueTrac. The only way to get it to work better is to change my lines entering some of those turns. Trust me on this, it is worse than the video sounds. Sam has scared me away from the T2R, so I might be coming back to Auburn for their racer's diff. Good thing is, I am pretty efficient at replacing the diff.
The car is running the 3:73 gears. I do have a set of 3:42's sitting the garage. But swapping gears for me is a little intimidating. Kent admitted he purposely bumped Mike up the hill around the FFR and stock car so I would not close on them :-) I think it is the first time in a while Kent and Mike had to use their mirrors for another CMC car. The FFR and stock car were both rookies and the stock car got rattled with the traffic. There was no contact. The top 6 CMC cars all broke the track record on Saturday. With Morris turning a 2:14:7. |

Howdy,

Jim, rear ends (not including the diff) are cheap enough that you can have a few laying around all geared up and ready to go. I've got two others at my house right now... :-) If I were a serious roadracer and needed different gearing for different tracks, I'd bite the bullet and buy a diff for each housing. Then a "gear swap" takes you maybe a half hour, plus you've got a complete spare ready to go in case something goes south. Mark |

Mark Well, I pulled the 3:73 late last year with the intent of putting the 3:42's into it. But then the whole prospect of shimming kind of spooked me. After putting all back together again. Then came to find out that the shims are casing specific. Nice to find out after I put it all back together. Then the motor issues distracted me through the winter. With that knowledge, I think the best route might be to have spares all set up with the proper gears. Honestly though, not sure when the 3:73's would be of benefit over 3:42's. Even on the long VIR back straight (3,758 ft). So when I put a T2R into it this month, I will put the 3:42 gears in. Mark, there is a difference between serious and wealthy roadracers. I being of the former, not the latter (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |
