Hello all, just wanted to share a few more pictures of my trailer I plan on using for auto-x events and open track days. This particular trailer started life as a small boat trailer. I shortened it, relocated the axle, placed the axle above the springs to lower the trailer, added some brackets and such to mount the box, tires, and a place to mount our canopy. The trailer was also completely re-wired with new lights, and the wiring was ran inside PVC tubing to protect it from damage from foreign objects and UV rays from the sun.
I don't have the spare tire mounted yet(there is a post for it on the tongue you can see) and I have not painted the fenders yet. Otherwise the trailer is complete and works quite well. I've pulled it up to 75mph and it pulls straight and does not bounce. Here are a few more pictures of the trailer. Thanks for the comments guys. I just finished the trailer, so I'm sure there may be some design improvements along the way. I'm trying to keep the tires covered, so I stacked them like they are. A bar through the center is a very likely option as well for the future.
What you can't see on the tarp is that it is pre-folded and bolted to the trailer, plus I have a piece of flat bar riveted in the end of the tarp as well. So you just throw the tires on, throw the tarp over and strap them down. It really worked out pretty well. It does have pretty low tongue weight, but do far it doesnt wag real bad. It swayed a bit when I changed lanes quickly, but other than that it pulls nice. We're going to Nelson Ledges tomorrow for my first open track day (pray for no rain) so we'll see how it does! |

(pray for no rain) I think you're screwed. 60% chance in the AM. 20% in the late afternoon. Some other stuff has came up and now add the rain, so I probably won't be making the trip. I'd love to go to Nelsons though. Nice trailer BTW. I need to make one. I hate supporting the Chinese Economy but I will probably go the Harbor Freight route unless I find something else. I wish I could just bite the bullet and get a full size truck and a car hauler. The camaro is bound to leave me stranded sooner or later (knock on wood).
