I just got my first set of Victoracer V700's from Tirerack. They were supposed to be shaved to 4/32". They are bald in some spots? Anybody else have experience with these? Do they wear much further pas being bald? Maybe I can a picture up over the weekend.

Your Victoracers aren't bald - there's 4/32 tread left. There just aren't any grooves in the tread to evacuate water. IIRC, there are little tread depth "holes" in the tread. You should still have the holes visible, and if you check with a depth gauge it should read 4/32.
I'd guess a Victoracer is 6/32 originally, so the water grooves are probably cut to 2/32... A slick may appear "bald", but there is plenty of rubber "tread" on the tire. From what I've heard, the competetive life of a shaved Victoracer should be as long as an unshaved sticker tire... |
