The Hellwig bar does not fit with the Strano/Fay Watts link. It has plenty of diff housing clearance, but it hits the center bellcrank (aka "propellor", but not by me).
It fits fine on the stock bar mounts, and that's how I installed it. However, I'm now using the Hellwig bar mounts for my Hotchkiss bar because they provide a little more clearance for the Watts axle clamps. I put a small nick in the bar's finish with a floor jack (near the center, toward the front of the car). Since it's hammertone, I rubbed in some POR-15 (very durable urethane) to prevent rust and blend in the repair. It's not invisible, but I doubt if I can get it to show up in a photo. I don't think anyone would notice even with a car-show mirror under the tail (as if ...). $125 + shipping This post has been edited by sgarnett: Oct 25 2008, 03:09 PM |

Brian has a Watts link, so he's probably frustrated that they can't be used together. So am I. Clearly, this would be a poor choice for anyone planning to install the Watts link.
Since the Watts is expensive, I'm hoping there are a few people who don't plan to install it (sorry, Sam!) and could benefit from an adjustable bar. |
