Made some changes to my cable access. I wuz being ripped!!!!

So, I had ALL their equipment removed and I now have basic cable services.

But all their equipment included their boxes.

So now I'm in the market for a stand-alone DVR and a hard disk/DVD recorder. I have a Pioneer unit at work and absolutely love it.

So what's the brand/model to get these days?

I'm also looking at NETFLIX ... anyone out there subscribe? Anyone use their wireless on-demand box?

We started Netflix this past winter and I'm pretty sure they lost money on us for the first couple months. In most cases we'd get a DVD in the mail one day and have it in back in the mail the next. Now that it is summer time we might go through 1 DVD/ week, so we're not making out near as well but it is still cheaper and more convenient than renting. Having the play list is nice since I always forget what I want to watch. I recommend it.
