Life long northern CA native, living on the valley floor where we only see snow once a decade or so ... but an hour and a half drive from Tahoe so used to driving in heavy snow with 20 feet or more of the stuff piled on the side of the road ...

My wife and I chased a job to MN a few years back ... "heavy" snow one night left a foot or so on the ground. Next morning we're the only ones to show up at work ... everyone else called in saying they couldn't drive in these conditions ... I think they're still joking about it: "we had this heavy snowstorm and the next day the crazy Californians were the only ones to make it in!"

You mean to tell me that only a foot kept those crazy yoopers <(I've heard this term used to include MN residents as well as U.P./Wisconsin natives) off of the roads??!!
