Well, The Avalanche is probably history. Had it scanned, and after fooling with the 4x4 selector switch, (engine running, trans in nuetral), a couple of times, it was back on. The seller doesn't seem very concerned about fixing it. Screw it. As for my Z-28, number 3 cylinder had a misfire. I checked it with my IR gun and I found it was less than half the temp as the others. The guy that scanned it said it was the plug. I have never paid to have plugs installed one of my vehicles. This particular shop has been a bit slow lately, and the owner said for around $380.00 he would change all 8 plugs and the wires. (I trust the guy), but does that sound high? Just curious.

I've heard of places charging a grand to do plugs/wires on an LT1 cause it's such a time consuming bitch. |

Just did plugs and wires on an LS1 with misfires on 6 of the 8 and most wires came apart. So I suggest doing wires too.
Not so bad doing it but we also removed coil pacs and swapped coil pacs at the same time to verify misfires. Did this because 2 coil pacs were different make so we knew some one had played with misfires before on the 02 B4C. I must admit I'm a scant 140 lbs with skinny arms and hands and get asked a lot to get my hands in tight places. Both the drivers and pasg side back are fun blind folded feel your way. Wish you luck. You still got the old truck with those coated headers on? |
