Been lurking and reading for a while and finally found a car that I might buy and start taking to the track. It's a 1995 Firebird with 143k. Obviously, it's a six speed but it is also a hardtop. I know it has a bunch of miles, but overall it is in good condition.
I think it's worth around $4,000. Should I factor in the cost of a rebuild or do you think I can get some more life out of the motor? What should I be careful to look at on it? Thanks! PS - I also have a 94 Z28 M6, but it has been a never ending nightmare project that I just want to get rid of at this point. This post has been edited by racertim: May 10 2011, 08:10 PM |

That's a lot of miles, but you could run it and see what kind of power it has, then decide if you want to drop in a lower mile one or freshen up that one. I would say $3000-$3500 on that one if it is in decent shape. I ran my '94 TA with about 100K miles on it for three or so seasons then the power started dropping off drastically and parts started coming off the top end! It is rebuilt now, anxious to see the #s it makes!
