Been lurking and reading for a while and finally found a car that I might buy and start taking to the track. It's a 1995 Firebird with 143k. Obviously, it's a six speed but it is also a hardtop. I know it has a bunch of miles, but overall it is in good condition.
I think it's worth around $4,000. Should I factor in the cost of a rebuild or do you think I can get some more life out of the motor? What should I be careful to look at on it? Thanks! PS - I also have a 94 Z28 M6, but it has been a never ending nightmare project that I just want to get rid of at this point. This post has been edited by racertim: May 10 2011, 08:10 PM |

It's also going to depend upon the area in which you live.
Here in the DFW area, there are LS1 equipped equipped track car candidates popping up at $5-7K That drives the LT1 cars way down in price. I've purchased complete, non-running LT1 cars for as little as $600 and as much as $1000. Running, driving and inspected LT1 cars in reasonable condition can be had for $2-3K. |
