Been lurking and reading for a while and finally found a car that I might buy and start taking to the track. It's a 1995 Firebird with 143k. Obviously, it's a six speed but it is also a hardtop. I know it has a bunch of miles, but overall it is in good condition.

I think it's worth around $4,000. Should I factor in the cost of a rebuild or do you think I can get some more life out of the motor? What should I be careful to look at on it?

PS - I also have a 94 Z28 M6, but it has been a never ending nightmare project that I just want to get rid of at this point.

Maybe I'm just having bad luck then because I do the same thing. Here is the kind of sellers that I find. This was a 1994 hardtop Z28 with an unpainted hood, no AC, a bad interior and that *supposedly* only needed a new clutch and opti installed just to get it running. He wouldn't take less than $3,000 for it!

Thanks for the interest. Yes it has been listed for a couple of months. If I sell it I will get what I feel is a fair price for it. I don't have to sell it. As for what I want for it, I want $4000.00 for the car. Will I accept less from a serious non-arrogant person, possibly, but it will not be $2500 or $1500 or $1000. You can waste someone else's time with low ball offers like that. I see you are from Ohio as well and say that you can find these cars in the $3000.00 range, I agree, but it is the upper end of $3000 not the lower end. I'm curious why you would say "I can find the same car in running condition with a clear title for $3,000." My car has a CLEAR TITLE, as well as it does run and drive. It does have two (2) mechanical issues that will need addressed, but comes with the parts to fix them, so what's really your question? If it is will I accept less than $3000 for my car the answer is an absolute NO! Hopefully this answers your question.
