I just got back from driving a Cadillac XLR with 600 miles on it.....the owner was my dad's neighbor....and was watching us set up my dad's new motorhome today to go to the races next week....he drives up in the thing I tell him "SWEET RIDE!" and he says...."Hey, go ahead and take it out! Take it for as long as you like!" (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Well my wife is there with my daughter and 12 week old son, so I say to her..."....give the kids to grandma, lets GO!"

That car was NICE.......the interior was WAY nicer than I had thought it would have....very German car quality and finish.....leather seats that were firm and supportive but NOT uncomfortable like some....the suspension....VERY FIRM yet still smooth and luxury like...not great tires on it, but still a GREAT compromise for sport/luxury....the motor....Northstar....was peppy, more than I expect from a Caddy, but not Vette like either....

All in all a SWEET car! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Now if I could ONLY find $80,000 lying around..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

That's my point though. You're on the "lemon" side. I've owned BMW's for about a dozen years, and never had to pour any extra oil in them, had any major engine failures, etc. Always 3-series cars, but I've got friends that have had big trouble with those as well.

And yes, they've been more reliable than my Camaro (okay all the mods don't let me blame any of that on the general) and my 1999 Silverado.

I'm not trying to say their aren't any lemons, just noticing this vehement polarization around BMW...

Dave

Yeah, for me, I had been a lifelong "hater" of BMW growing up...just didn't like the "attitude" most BMW drivers had....."look at my Bimmer...." "...my Bimmer this..." "...my Bimmer that...." all from friends and family that talked about these things like they were their Yale educated kids or something...

Then I drove one and felt "why" people are sucked into them....they ARE nice on some levels (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ...bought it and tried to avoid telling people I had one.....didn't like them saying "Oh, so THAT is how you are...." with a wink...

Then the problems struck. That and the fact the FORD gave me FAR SUPERIOR customer service from the service department on my very first car....A FORD ESCORT.....than the #1 BMW in the country....I was in shock, how do these people have such superiority complexes about their cars when the dealer treats them like SHIT....now I have been treated poorly by a LOT of dealers....but NEVER this bad....damn.....
