Saw this over on Solo Matters. Ron and Sonya Ver Mulm's 2nd Gen Camaro has been rebuilt to the rules of E Modified:
http://www.solomatters.com/rolling_awesome...ver_mulm_camaro It used to be an ex-roadrace Camaro that started solo life in C-Prepared. Then the Ver Mulms put a LS engine in it before they were allowed, hence the move to E Mod. Since the Ver Mulms have been competing against the likes of the Kiesel Sprite and Brueck Jeep required he step up the game. Soo, the pictures show the complete rebuild at about 3/4 scale (shortened and narrowed). It's built to the letter of the rules. Looks like it'll be quiet, too, look at the 'pipe organ' in the passenger seat area!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif) |

Bad ass.
Soo, the pictures show the complete rebuild at about 3/4 scale (shortened and narrowed). It doesn't look that small. 2nd gen wheel base is 108 stock and his is 102", but they say "13" shorter" so did he reduce overhangs? I could see the width reduction of 4" if the tires stuck out a lot before. It looks wider than a stock 2nd gen but not much. Hopefully they lower the front ride height: (IMG:http://www.solomatters.com/assets/media/wp-content/uploads/rolling_awesome_the_ver_mulm_camaro_01.jpg) Looks like it will have a full flat underbody, in the areas where there aren't panels I see 1/4 turn fastener plates: (IMG:http://www.solomatters.com/assets/media/wp-content/uploads/rolling_awesome_the_ver_mulm_camaro_04.jpg) Was the car on the right what is was like before the rebuild? The only thing that looks the same is the color, kinda. (IMG:http://www.solomatters.com/assets/media/wp-content/uploads/rolling_awesome_the_ver_mulm_camaro_05.jpg) Looks like pretty heavy tubing was used, I'm guessing 2" round and square for most of the primary structure. |
